Rodmay Hotel
It's quirky and unique for maybe one night. But it's a 1910 building that's had multiple repairs with no significant renovation. The building isn't locked overnight. There's ant & mousetraps thruout. Plumbing and electric are marginal. No forced-air bathroom ventilation. Windows let mosquitoes in at night. Rooms have portable AC floor units with a flex-duct to the window. And though management can't do anything about it, the view over the enormous, abandoned paper mill isn't exactly inspiring.

I stayed at the Rodmay for 3 weeks and had a wonderful experience.I mean this in the most positive and complimentary way possible - staying here is like being in a real life episode of Schitt's Creek!Charlie, Julia, Jack and his wife (Charlie & Julia's daughter - I never caught her name) are genuinely lovely people that make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The hotel in itself is super cool and interesting to explore with all its history (and rumours of being haunted)It's in a great location to go for a dip at Mowat Bay or to watch the sunset at second beach. It's also very convenient having the chicken restaurant in the same building.Good location, easy parking, clean, safe, and run by a kind and welcoming family - I highly recommend staying at the Rodmay if you're in the area!

The staff and owner of this hotel are very special people and we appreciate the efforts they took to make our experience favorable. This is a very old Heritage Hotel and very interesting, I recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a pleasant non chain hotel experience, the owner staff do their very best.

I always enjoy staying here as a local guest because the building and all of its hotel room layouts take me back into time" with their historic structure and antique hues created by displays all over this century+ old building in our Townsite area. The air conditioning units

We booked a 2-night stay in March 2023. Despite a sign in the bathroom asking us to run the tap for a few minutes to get hot water (and thanking us for our patience) the best we got was tepid water. Our upgrade included a view of the rusting machinery of an abandoned pulp mill. The dining room was closed, as was the attached street-level restaurant. The lobby was cold and abandoned. The whole area had the feel of a ghost town. After one night in a double bed at creepy Rodmay, we asked if we could get a refund for our second night, as we had decided to find other accommodations. The person who showed up (when we telephoned the night check-in" number) said we had to request a refund from Expedia. This is not true and he must have known it

Great place to stay if you like spending hundreds of dollars to sleep amongst the subtle scents of a good Canadian dart on your 35yr mattress made from springs and playdo.Honestly better off sleeping in your car on an air mattress in the Walmart parking lot.Fellow upfront was nice enough and the art work is great, a long with the room's seeming fairly updated that is why 2/5 stars. After a long trip and poor sleep youd think my wife and I could sleep soundly from exhaustion alone, but worry not the soft lighting from the mill, the musty scent of cigarettes and the cold will keep you up just long enough for you to realize that your back is better off on the floor than the bed. Only to wake up with the various scents making your pregnant wife puke at 5am and then you can be on your way listening to sea lions laugh you out. Check out Julie's airport cafe for an early breakfast and a nap in a cup.Sorry Powell River, but this ain't it.

This is an old, historic hotel with lots of character that a new owner is working to fix up and bring back to life, and doing a good job of it. The rooms aren't perfect, but progress is definitely being made, and the rooms are reasonably priced and a good option for budget travelers. The owner is nice and accommodating. I'd stay there again.

Very interesting place. Really happy we stayed here over any of the big chain hotels. Has lots of character and the owner was very nice.Clean and comfortable. Our only issue was the very thin curtains that had the sun pouring in at 630am.Overall really enjoyed it though and would stay here again next time I am in PR.

Living history! Check-in was friendly, and efficient. Everyone was very helpful. The staff is committed and competent. The rooms are authentic to a historic hotel. I would stay here again if a needed a quiet place to stay in PR.
