I brought my precious fur baby in for one tooth removed under anesthetic and this doctor would do nothing unless I did all the polishing and cleaning to the tune of $577 plus the tooth extraction $168 plus, plus unexplained things and a medication to come home. This doctor explained you do not make money by just removing the tooth. She is here for the money not because she loves the pet owner and the pet equally. this is not the place to take your pets if money is also a concern. This doctor is only for people who can afford and that she can look into spending a lot of money. My experience is disgusting with this place and I wouldn’t take another animal there their life depended on it! She chooses to pull at your heart strings to get as much out of your pocket as she can. And I’m being kind.

I have taken both of my fur babies into this clinic on several occasions. Paula, who works on the front desk, is exceptional. She is very compassionate and caring; a true asset to this clinic. Dr. Mand is wonderful. She takes the time to answer all questions and explains things well. I am happy to bring my babies here.

Amazing staff!As a senior dog, my shepherd has been to several clinics, and I always leave feeling that he wasn’t welcome. My experience with Coastal City Veterinary Hospital was the absolute opposite. Not only is Dr. Mand very knowledgeable, thorough, accommodating, and overall just good at what she does but she treated my boy with such love and respect. The entire staff was incredible from our first frantic call trying to find someone who could see him asap, to the very last (of several) calls to check in on him post op. I am so unbelievably grateful/relieved to have finally found a clinic that appreciates my sweet (but sometimes grumpy) old boy. There are not enough kind words in the world to express my gratitude to Coastal City Veterinary hospital, for not only saving my boy, but doing so with such kindness and understanding.

Thank you so much for taking care of my Dog, whenever he needed to be monitored!If you want to visit a vet, I highly recommend Dr. Jaskaran at coastal city Animal Hospital. I drove all the way from port alberni to Nanaimo and it has been worth the trip. The doctors know what they’re doing and are incredibly caring. Even after my Dog was discharged they still call to follow up on how he is doing which I deeply appreciated !! Overall a great experience with getting help from a vet.

I took my senior dog in for major dental surgery and they were amazing with him. So kind and caring. Also the best pricing in town and not judgemental like some vets I have been to.

Staff were very compassionate and caring.They made sure my dog and I had a good visit and took good care of my dog. Definitely made me feel better and our visit to Nanaimo more enjoyable. ☺️

Before coming to Coastal City, I visited a different veterinarian in Nanaimo who diagnosed my cat to have some sort of skin disease, and they wanted 1200$ to fix it. I was appalled, as her skin had no visible issues, only she was pulling her hair out. I brought her to Coastal City and Dr Mand was VERY thorough and explained to me her diagnosis, which was that my cat actually just had anxiety, and not the skin disease.Rather than paying 1500$ for a start up fee at the other vet location, I now pay about 50$ every 4 months for medication which is working PERFECTLY. I am so happy I came here and met with Dr Mand and the team.I am very thankful also that Dr Mand explained everything to me in great detail so that I can feel assured that I do not waste my money on something I have no knowledge about. Genuine thank you!
