Adaptabilities is an Edmonton-based, non-profit organization helping individuals with special needs develop essential life skills they need to grow, succeed and belong. They have a “human rights” – some would say, a “holistic approach” to their works|service focussing not only on the participants but also their families who have altered their work-life balance to become caregivers. AdaptAbilities is a truly incredible organization. The love and passion shown by the staff are evident. My brother with Down Syndrome attended this organization in the adult program and he was always excited to wake up in the morning to go to his program, energized by the events and tasks they got to do each day. We saw him develop not only his social skills, but how to be more independent in cooking, purchasing items at the store, and doing activities. We are so grateful we found such an amazing program in AdaptAbilities! Special thanks to Laurie and the team at Meadowlark Centre, as well as Michelle!

My daughter attends the West and the South locations on the weekend for the Respite. My family loves adaptabilties! We get the break we need and she gets to socialize with an awesome group of staff and other clients.

They shut my children and my single parent family out if obtaining services, shuffling our file and losing it for four months, PRECISELY BECAUSE WE ARE ALL DISABLED. we were too much liability to the intake worker. So instead of telling me clearly some fluff about how she truly cares about disability, she just lied that someone would get back to me and thus cognitively disabled Albertan chased an unscrupulous disability services group until I was exhausted. Stay the hell away from them.

We love AdaptAbilities!Our son attends an afternoon OT respite program at the Orange Hub and he enjoys his time there while working on some fine and gross motor goals. We also utilize In Home respite, and couldn't be happier with the service.

I started working with Adaptabilities (in the Hearts in action summer camp program) in the first year of my undergrad. Having no previous experience working with individuals with diverse abilities I was nervous, however that quickly changed. Adaptabilities runs on the basis of core values and strives to build capacity in the people they hire and the people who hire us. The skills I have today helps me succeed in the workforce and I give full credit to the excellent leaders and my proficient colleagues who helped and inspired me along the way. It is the systematic and empowering work culture at this company that has captured me here for five years! Here at adaptabilities, we are change makers and we care! In our day to day program planning we really brainstorm on how days can be made more meaningful for our participants, how we can increase thier inclusiveity into the community and how we can use positive behaviour supports to identify the real need behind behaviours. We use a human rights approach and provide active support to the people who hire us. Moreover the company enables the people they hire to grow in thier skills by providing many oppurtunities to learn and compensate us accordingly as well. There is a diverse range of programs you could work in and so many oppurtunities to grow! Overall working here as been a substantial experience and I really credit the company for helping me develop my workforce skills.

Michelle and her staff are doing a great service. She offers a well needed service to help families and there loved ones. Wife and I used to home care for an older lady with a disability which needed our 24 hour care for her. We know how family’s can benefit from Adaptabilites and get peace of mind there loved ones looked after and at the same time a little break from the 24 hour care.

Adaptabilities is an organization with creative, attentive, and professional employees. Their company culture is positive and inclusive. It is an outstanding organization to work for. Adaptabilities has a wonderful adult day program that we utilize out of the Orange Hub. The staff are caring and wonderful. I have no problem leaving my son in their care because he will be looked after.
