Intact Insurance

DO NOT deal with this insurance company !!! They will make it extremely difficult for you to make a small claim like a broken side mirror from a hit and run on a parking lot and do whatever it takes to deny your claim. What more a big claim ? I have been with them for decades and because of this I have lost trust, faith and confidence in this company and took my business elsewhere. They are just good at collecting premiums but fall short on helping you. Response to the response below: Do not fall for this rubber stamp, auto-generated response. It will get you nowhere.

My parents house had a presumed stolen SUV literally fly into their house causing catastrophic damage this pass Wednesday at 2am. It made front page news on yeg it was so catastrophic.. covered by litterally every news station. My parents are unharmed thank godIntact Insurance has been incredibly slow to react to this catastrophe. They messed up telling my parents to look at getting an air bnb (you can't book airb bnb in the same city you live in).They also haven't sent a claims adjuster yet either. My poor parents have been having a heck of a time getting a hold of anyone from intact for the next step and for remediation. Leaving messages with no call backs. They have never missed a payment*Update*They are able to get an apartment. Still no word from the claims adjuster.1 star to1.5 stars

1.Expensive.2. Got much better deal @ TD insurance.3.They always ask the total amount upfront.4. Cancelled my policy on 3 wks after my term. They charged me 3 months.Very unhelpful.Do not recommend this!! Zero stars

Nothing but bad experiences with customer service team, who clearly aren't getting the training they need thanks to bad management. They failed to pass on information multiple times when changes were made to my account/policy. Finally got fed up amd decided to cancel. I got 4 different quotes from 4 different people for cancellation policies, because the brokers don't have access to that information. So you don't know what you're going to be charged until it's done and irreversible. Final number ended up different from all of the broker guesses. Happy to be rid of them.

Been with intact for over 10 years. They raised my premium by a thousand dollars for a not at fault hit and run. Left them went to TD and pay less than I initially did at intact.

Read all the reviews before buying insurance from this company. My in-laws had one of their vehicles stolen last August and it was found a month later burnt out in Saskatchewan. Intact is not settling the claim for the value of the vehicle and in fact continued charging premiums on it. When questioned why they weren’t refunded the premiums, Intact turned around and increased the premium on the other vehicle saying that because they only have one vehicle now, they applied the premium from stolen vehicle onto the remaining vehicle. After months of back and forward they were asked to send settlement offer in writing but have yet to do so. It is now coming down my in-laws having to take legal action against Intact just to get this settled. Pathetic insurance company so avoid at all costs

In March of this year I joined the My Drive app because my insurance for my vehicle became more expensive this year with no explanation and no accidents/claims. I called Intact Insurance and asked why I am paying more and then I was sold with the idea of My Drive because when you first join, you are promised 10% off of your total monthly insurance bill and then up to 25% off after 6 months of safe driving. When I saw my new statement, I realized that the 10% had not gone through yet and it was even less than 5%. Then I contacted Intact Insurance for them to fix it, so I could get my actual 10% off and they did not have a good reason as to why I didn't get my discount. Do not promote these discounts if they are not real. If I do not get an actual discount close to 25% off by September with my safe driving, I will be switching insurance companies.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless your wealthy. To start out I have a 2003 pickup with 400k/Kms. I pay 365$ per month no collision coverage. Intact is currently charging me around 900$ a year for a 9 over speeding ticket since I’m considered a dangerous driver over this.They consider a ticket from 0-45 km over the speed limit the same class which isn’t reasonable. Last November my truck got broken into they smashed the door locks and ignition and all the trim around it. Intact couldn’t seem to care any less about getting this sorted. I took it upon myself to fix it so I had a drivable vehicle while they took their sweet time. Once I was fed up and contracted them again they finally got the ball rolling only to find out they couldn’t do anything for me. The items in the truck I can partially understand but the damages were not repaired or anything. Fast forward 3 months and I notice my policy went up. Look into it and it went up to cover all the “thefts” that had been happening here. Anyway company is a complete joke I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I would give zero stars if the option was available.Opened my water damage claim over a month ago. Their initial response for emergency removal drywall and flooring was fast, however, it has now been over a month with their phone lines down and no one will return my emails. I have even contacted my broker and they can’t even get a hold of the claims department. Do better Intact. If I ignored my clients for a month I wouldn’t have any left.

Gave one star only because zero stars isn't an option. We have a friend who is a newcomer to Canada. She was gifted a car so that she could more easily find work. Unfortunately, she also ended up with Intact as an insurance company. When her car was fraudulently stolen, they refused to take any action. It has been recovered but she can't take possession of the vehicle until Intact releases" it to her. She has been waiting for over a month! Meanwhile
