Crown Structural - Load Bearing Wall Removal, Steel Beam Installation

I ran into some challenges with the engineer drawings and permit application (unrated to Reza) and he was very patient, understanding and everything worked out great in the end. Just had a wall removed by Crown Structural. Reeza did a great job. My initial engineer drawing was not very good and would have placed a post in the middle of a basement hallway. Reeza suggested a second engineering opinion. I had to pay for a second drawing but it was well worth it. Reeza's suggestion made far more sense and the result is much better. He and his father came in and worked really hard. They removed the wall, reinforced the footings, added 2 posts, added a beam and left the place clean.

Reza and his trades people were very easy to work with and despite the odd issue and ‘surprise’ behind walls, they managed to complete the wall removal, rerouting of plumbing and HVAC and finishing, on time and without any serious problems.This company offers good service and value for money spent.

We wanted to remove a pair of columns near our dining room which we weren't sure were structural or not. Reza came over to inspect our house and determined they are not structural and that we can work with a contractor or remove them on our own. He was also was very helpful in explaining to us which elements of the framing were just decorative additions to the bulkhead above the columns, which we also wanted to modify. Knowledgeable, honest, professional and diligent in his work - I would highly recommend Reza.

Reza came and explained how and what would happen in order for the walls to be removed as we wished. He was knowledgeable and explained the difference in materials and flush verses the drop down ceiling. Of course then the pandemic hit and everything became a little more complicated. Our project was postponed and once we finally could go ahead, well, Reza was busy. Our only advice would be to keep up the communication. While everything went well, we were a stressed not hearing from him when we had other trades trying to organize their time. We are very pleased with how the work went. The removal of a half wall and expanding our opening to the dining room has made a huge difference and the ceilings look so much higher even if they haven't changed. Our other trades even commented on the good job that they saw with the installed beams. During the demolition Reza was professional and respectful of the space, inside and out. I wanted to remove two potentially load-bearing walls in my house. I contacted Crown (as well as two other companies). Reza was by far the most knowledgeable person I've dealt with. The moment he peaked into the attic, he said 'you are lucky' that these are engineered trusses which means those walls are not load bearing. The other people I contacted did not even bother looking into the attic. I contacted structural engineer and he basically confirmed the same thing.Reza scheduled a day/time, and finished the work the same day. Left the place clean and tidy. When removing one of the walls, we were little unsure if it could be load-bearing. Reza was kind enough to show to my structural engineer through video call to get his opinion. He also popped into the attic and made sure himself.The only minor negative thing was that I wanted to keep half wall at foyer which he said was easier to fully remove and rebuild. Would have been nice to save some work, but in all fairness, this was not discussed earlier so not his fault.Overall, I would highly trust his expertise and would not hesitate to recommend him for more complex projects.
