I brought my laptop to him to get the screen fixed. He was responsive and quoted me a set of prices based off the likely causes right off. From the time I gave him the computer to when he told me that the repair was finished was less than 48 hours. Highly recommend, very happy with his service and the work he did for me.

For frugal dudes like myself who would rather hang on to a workhorse laptop computer that has been reliable rather than cave to forced obsolescence, this place is nirvana. After calling around to replace the screen on my HP Pavilion notebook, which is about five and a half years old (and just eight months prior had a solid state drive replace my original hard drive), I was frustrated by the responses I was getting. One guy said he couldn't in good conscience fix something that would likely turn into a money pit and tried convincing me to upgrade to something new. Another quoted me a price that exceeded what my IT guy suggested I'd pay. A third didn't bother to call me back after a first brief chat where I had an unanswered question. Finally, I connected with someone who seemed reasonable, but he referred me to Jim at Portland Laptop Repair -- noting that he was the best possible resource. Talk about truth in advertising. He was spot on. Jim not only gave me a reasonable quote, but also said the type of screen I needed based on the model number was one of the most popular, and he had it in stock. Same-day repair: What a concept! So I dropped off the laptop after lunch the day after July 4th and picked it up a few hours later. He couldn't have been more knowledgeable or kinder. And his parting words: there's a 90-day warranty in case you have any trouble

What an experience. I somehow was able to be seen the same day. I went to a computer place down the street and from the moment I spoke to the gentleman on the phone knew he was professional. Compared to the last guy who wanted to sell me another computer.I go in teary eyed having spilled coffee on my work computer. He walks me through the process and potential cost. I leave and a couple hours this gentleman and scholar fixed my computer that wasn't turning on.He even sent pictures to prove work. This is truly the customer service I've been missing. Check my reviews folks, the man is 5 star quality and it turns out he's got several awards and all the big wigs go to him. Jim was able to help me with the very specific ssd boot issue I was having, and advise on how to avoid this type of issue in the future. He was friendly, had great covid safety practices, and was very informative. Would highly recommend.

I recently dropped my laptop and the whole top left corner of the screen was shattered. I called Jim on Friday and explained to him what happened, gave him my laptop info and he ordered a new touch screen for it. The screen came in really fast (it came from China) and he got it and did a visual inspection of it by Tuesday. Took my laptop in to him Tuesday afternoon and have it working and looking just like normal Tuesday evening. He was friendly and did a fantastic job replacing my screen. I feel those 2 poor reviews are unfair as my experience was excellent. I highly recommend Laptop Repair & Data Recovery if you value fast, friendly, quality service.
