Prima School of Dancing

We’ve been impressed with the excellent communication and support from the staff throughout the year! As a mom new to the dance world, I greatly appreciated the hand holding! It’s been amazing to see how much our daughters have improved in their motor control and body awareness in just one year.

My daughter started dancing at Prima when she was just 3 years old and is now in college as a dance major performance/business minor. That's 15+ years with the studio, teachers and students. She loves the atmosphere, staff and students so much that she continues to help Prima when she is home. The passion to teach children a good foundation of dance, leadership, determination and dedication is definitely a foundation. Prima offers a great recreational program and an amazing competitive program! The company director is defintely experiencedand skilled in performance and technique. Prima Company does a very through job of meeting with parents and students in the off season outlining the rehearsals and competing schedules so you know what you are committing to ahead of time. The Prima Company get together a few times a year to enjoy each other's company as a group outside of dance like The Maze & The Patch at Dry Creek Farm & Ranch, holiday parties, fundraising events and dinners, where you find the students you'll find the company director. The students work hard and rehearse a lot more than recreational dance and they see huge rewards in bringing home top awards across a wide variety of dance genres both group wise and individuals. And as a parent who still sees her child going to the studio even tho she isn't in classes any longer I can tell you there is an investment into your child! My daughter still seeks out advise and knowledge from the company director two years later.

We have been a part of Prima for nine years. My daughters have been involved in everything from intro classes to the competitive team. We started at a different studio in town - I only wish we had made the switch to Prima sooner. Having been a part of various sports and organizations in town, Prima stands out far above anything else. The instructors are so kind, encouraging, and inspiring. My family has gained lifelong friendships through this studio. As a mom, I’m so grateful to Prima not only for bringing this caliber of dance to Rapid City, but for inspiring and supporting my girls. The lessons and knowledge they have gained from this studio is about so much more than dance and will serve them well in life.

Prima is an exceptional dance studio! The teachers are knowledgeable and caring. My daughter has shown tremendous growth and improvement year after year in her dancing and technique. They work hard in class and it shows in the amazing performances! I appreciate the dedication and positivity that every staff member has at Prima. Teachers put in countless hours to make a fun environemnt and experience for the dancers. I'm also grateful for the organization and communication I receive as a parent. It's a wonderful place to dance!

You guys are so wonderful with the kids and you guys always have everything covered. You guys put on such a great recital that I believe the prices are worth it. 2021was Priscilla's first year and I was really amazed at everything. I and Priscilla can't wait for next year. Thank you all for what you all do for our kiddos.

Our kiddos love their teachers. I believe Miss Kate is new, and she is great! Her warmth & way with little ones are appreciated. It's easy to see her joy for dance. We want to encourage her to keep on teaching!!!

We really love dancing at Prima. Their teachers are very talented and so caring. I enjoy seeing how the dancers grow and improve each year and watching their talents bloom. I appreciate that Prima always has quality, age appropriate costumes for our young dancers, as that was important to us when choosing a studio. As a parent, I also really appreciate the care and planning the staff at the studio consistently show in being organized and thorough - don't always get that with kids' activities! Prima is a wonderful place for your children to dance and reach their potential while having fun and making friends!

Office staff told the mother of a newborn she was not allowed to nurse/ feed in their building even though the mother had a daughter in dance lessons at that very moment. She was forced to retreat to her car during some very cold winter temperatures. This happened right in front of me and I was shocked.They require parents drop off their kids and leave the building. The studio owner is an introvert, avoids socializing whenever possible and these traits are part of the business culture.My grandaughter switched to Barefoot and it made a positive difference in her life. Barefoot encourages kindness among their students, is supportive of their dancers even when those dancers also participate in a school sport and welcome parents to stay while their children dance.

My daughter has been dancing here for 4 years now, starting at age 4. She has absolutely loved it. The teachers are well trained in dance and work really well with my daughter and her age group. Prima is well organized and the recitals put on are amazing!! All of the teachers are kind and understanding when my daughter has an off day (too tired and ornery). There are so many classes to choose from and each one is great. I love Prima and would recommend it to anyone whose kids just want to dance for fun or be competitive.
