Mer Bleue Bog
I’ve been waiting all summer to finally take my first visit to the Bog with my little family. It is just as beautiful, if not more, than I’ve heard. Ample parking, washrooms, sheltered picnic tables and the most scenic views. The boardwalk is the perfect distance to take a toddler for a walk and your baby for a stroll in the stroller. Dogs are not welcome.

Mer Bleue Bog
The free Mer Bleue Bog conservation area is an great place to see an important part of the Canadian environment. This feature was created by glaciers that carved into rock making a depression where there is now a bog and a swamp. Bog's are unique because they hold low concentration of minerals and limited stagnant rain water. This water is absorbed by layers of slowly decomposing vegetation and moss making it bounce like a sponge when pressed. This creates a highly acidic ecosystem that has low levels of oxygen making it difficult for most species of plants to survive. All of these conditions create the perfect environment to preserve organic material that rests within its layers and it becomes a souce of carbon absorption as well as a fossil fuel. There is a nice board walk that takes you through the bog. This is a short easy walk and very family friendly. If you like my videos, photos or reviews don't be Bleu, just pull your hand out of the bog and give a thumbs up

I've always loved this place. Especially in the early morning. And regardless of the season. Although, this spring and fall are particularly lovely for all together different reasons. Try to bring a bag of bird seed to hand feed our feathered friends. With patients and quiet they will land right on your hand to feed.I don't believe that leashed or unleashed pets are allowed. Just so you know. Also, the country road, unpaved, has its fair share of potholes. Please drive slowly so as to not kick up a bunch of dust and watch out for all the local fauna that may suddenly dash across the road in front of you.Enjoy!

Great walk in all seasons. Pushchair friendly. Always lots of wildlife to see. Still wildlife to be seen in winter, people cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Roads well maintenance and path easy to walk along.

Wonderful - a simple pleasure that is worth the effort to preserve and enjoy. The trails are obvious, well marked, and varied. End points have parking, basic facilities (porta potty, picnic table(s), map). Nature is clearly the star as long as you pay attention. She is all around you. Bring some bug repellant in mid spring through late summer. The NCC does a great job maintaining the trails and lands about, and should be commended for its continued stewardship.

Beautiful, easy, kid friendly, and stroller friendly hike all year round. Gorgeous in all seasons! Free parking and washrooms available. You can enjoy bird feeding there. Birds come sit and eat from your hand. It is a nice combination of water and trees etc. Beautiful to see. The loop is short and easy but nice. I love it!

Beautiful trail! Even more beautiful in the summer and fall with the colors! It’s nice to know a place where the habitat’s not been disturbed!

One of the most wonderful trails in Ottawa region, it’s a short walk but every season different. Even now shortly before winter the brown colours create wonderful atmosphere
