Macassa Lodge

My mother was welcomed and well looked after for the past year on A unit 2nd floor. The nurses were so supportive and kind always to her. I can’t express my thanks enough for the palliative care support at the end and really appreciated the coffee,tea fruit and cookies in her last days when we didn’t want to leave her side. The nurses really worked well together and you could tell they sincerely caredMum was always clean and well fed and when she started to fall all precautions were taken to prevent fallsWhen ever I expressed concerns and requests for the Dr to address they were looked after right away.My only regrets is there are no comfortable chairs for the residents to sit together in a common area. My mother missed this coming from a retirement home. So she became isolated to her bed due to the discomfort of the chairs in front of TV This was due to Hamilton fire regulationThank you. It a very nice place for the elderly to live. It's up to date and the staff are friendly and close to amenities like bus stops Juravinski hospital,walmart, Freshco, Metro, Dollarama, Royal bank. The property is big with vegetable gardens in summer and courtyards with nice walkways. Its next to Macassa Park which is a nice place for a walk. I would Trust any of my parents or loved ones to live here if the time comes.

Our mother spent the last five years of her life here. It is very clean, well maintained, offers lots of programs with a good mix. The resident Dr is wonderful. I am disappointed in the lack of time taken to get to understand individual needs. In our case it was very specific medication needs that were not being followed, making it a turbulent five years for our mother. End of life care could have been better handled. Without being advocates I believe this would have been horrible. I had to ask for morphine, which seemed to be the pattern throughout her care. Beautiful home but lacking in personal care. You need to be an advocate and it may not always be handled pleasantly.

Didn’t get all the stuff they were suppose to from previous facility and didn’t communicate over the top visiting requirment. We now have family that cannot visits my gram and if we had been informed she would not have moved and we would still be able to see her.Absolutely rediculous.

Excellent attention and consideration from the staff at Macassa Lodge. Our grandmother is staying there and we arrived just before lunch time. They offered to set up her lunch in a private games room so we could stay with her, and the kids played while she ate. She truly enjoyed it, and it brought some smiles to all of us. Thank you again!

Located in my neighbourhood. I had a visitor shout at me for walking my (leashed dog, with poop bags attached to the leash) dog on the edge of the front lawn in front of the older lodge, exclaiming 'no wonder our dogs go wild when they come here.' Weird encounter. They do have a garden for the seniors to tend to which I thought was really nice.There is apparently a gift shop located in the lodge but not sure where it is located.

Macassa is a great seniors home. Being government owned means tight control over the premises. We have been on two wards. Both are clean. The staff seem enthusiastic to look after the patient.Appreciate the cautious approach to enter. Still have to do a covid test.

My mom resides at Macassa. Life in a retirement home is a real change. The staff at Macassa, through their kindness and care made transition an easy one. Very clean. Well organized. Highly recommend to all who require such a service.

Just placed our 92 year old father here.i doubt there's better care anywhere.hreat staff meals look great dad even likes it
