I had gone here and it’s hard without parents but after a while I got use to it I loved it there it’s super nice there they have the best Gramm crackers I miss it there hi Ledger house it’s Brandon

i don't know if you will ever see this but its Max and i'm doing much much better i miss each and every one of you! you were all so sweet and caring, you gave me the best breakfasts and i loved taking walks and discussing my problems. it was such a huge influence on my life and is the reason i stand proud today. love you all.

As a former patient this place has good intentions and some good staff but can make you feel trapped and even more depressed, that was the case for me. I spent pretty much all my time watching movies on a tiny DVD player. They take away your freedom and most of your personal belongings. It’s an old building so it gives off creepy vibes. You can only call the people they let you and it’s in a phone booth in a public area so it’s really hard to have a personal conversation. You end up disconnecting from friends because there is no contact. There is a staff member Brian who seems like hates his job and doesn’t wanna be there. They have a trash gaming room with consoles from the mid 2000s. Although there were positives, they have an amazing and kind hearted teaching assistant and a lot of resources. The gym is pretty sweet and they have a beautiful beach front. Its the most humane mental health facility I’ve been to, not that being held against your will while innocent is humane, it’s very mentally damaging and I don’t think psychiatrists take that into consideration enough. The stays can be super long so even if you recover you might not get your freedom back for a long time. This place and others like it are jail if the guards treated you good and babied to your needs.Side note The VGH psych ward is evil, lonely, inhumane solitary confinement (a form of torture). The mental health act has taken so much time from my life outside. The bc mental health system is very flawed, we need an actual good facility that will consider patents needs.Though this place can definitely help people

They were wonderful and caring. Both to my child and me. Helped get testing done that needed to happen. Listened to my imput to help my child. And found a medication that worked, and helped with strategies we needed.
