OK FENCE

Ian is a nice guy, was very communicative throughout the steps of the job and gave a reasonable priced quote. It took him a bit longer than expected, but i didnt mind as he works by himself and worked over Easter weekend. Overall very satisfied with the fence and work done.

Update Nov 10/2019: finally Iain had a chance to come by. He has had staffing issues (very believable in Kelowna) and had to come by himself. I admit, this is a small problem compared to the new business and larger jobs he’s got to do, so my previous update was when I was VERY frustrated with the delays.Iain fixed all of my concerns with my fence and for that reason I have again changed my review to 4 stars. Thank you Iain.Update Aug 14/2019: it’s been nearly three months of trying to get Iain to stop by and do warranty work, but he’s been “very busy.”Original:OK Fence was ahead of schedule, and under budget. It can be difficult to find a reliable contractor, but if you're looking for a fence at a fair price, and built right- contact Iain at OK Fence. Highly recommended.

Do NOT trust this guy! At first I was impressed of the value and work of the first part. Had to come back for a few adjustments but was good about it. On the second part of the job he didn’t want to remove the old fence but I asked him to as it was included. I was out of town as he did the job. I found the old posts just cut sticking out at ground level. The gate was put on swinging the wrong way not with the plan agreed on. I did reach him finally as he stated he was really busy but he would come back and fix that gate plus the other one that it looks like he didn’t adjust. He was begging for the money on completion and I thought I would trust him and paid him in full thinking he would come back as promised. Now that he has my money he will not return emails, phone calls or texts. Too bad for him as I had another big job at my other house he just lost out on. Very unprofessional Iain!

Ian did a great job building a Cedar fence for us, built specifically so that our Jack Russell cannot escape. It looks and functions great! Would highly recommend.

Poor customer relations. Did not start the job when promised, started the project and then insisted on full payment to return" after 50% deposit had already been paid. Never finished the job."

We hired Iain of OK Fence to build a fence around our yard and 3 gates, one of which is a 5 foot gate. Iain provided a timeline and a quote which was best for us in comparison to the others we had and he kept to it, he was very professional and kept us informed of the daily progress. The fence is high quality, sturdy and pleasing to the eye. We are very happy with the fence, the cost, the workmanship and being able to deal with a contractor like Iain. We would recommend OK Fence for your fencing and gate needs.

Iain was great to work with. He corresponded with me via email in a timely fashion and was good at answering my 1000 questions. Came to our house, quoted a reasonable price and timeframe (unlike all other chain-link fence companies right now!). He arrived on time and in 3 days, installed my black chain-link fence with 2 gates. He worked around my new puppy and family and was so easy to work with. We highly recommend OK Fencing and would hire Iain in the future. He has already installed a fence for our friends!

UPDATE: I had actually given Iain from ok fence credit for coming back and fixing gate, however, now it looks just as bad. Instead of taking off boards and lining them up and using same nails that were in the top of the gate, he re-attaches with big screws that do not match rest of gate nor does it look good. I can’t take them out and use nail gun because I’ll have holes from screws. I have to try and get new boards and fix it properly. So maddening!!I hired Iain from OK fencing after getting 3 different quotes. He said he wanted to be competitive so I gave him the best quote I had for same fence and he agreed to match.Materials were late so job was postponed but that happens. Everything went ok until I pointed out that my first gate had a 2x4 in the frame that was falling apart in the middle. Iain wanted to glue it and cover it with boards and said I wouldn’t see it. He said “just let me finish it and then if you have an issue we can do something.” I disagreed and said I’d like a good 2x4 in the gate frame. He left and didn’t say a word. He came back the next day with a new 2x4 and rebuilt the gate. The last gate had the gate hardware put on upside down so it didn’t match the other gate and the boards were not lined up with the frame so when you closed the door, there was a tiny gap at the bottom and large at the top. All that had to be done was to line the boards up which I do give Iain credit for coming back and lining the boards up a few days later. He left the gate hardware upside down though so I fixed that myself.When I emailed Iain with the info about the gate and boards not lining up, he said the fence is complete, it looks good, the gate hardware has to go on that way and he once again told me he wasn’t making much money and has to keep his business going. Being a frequent flyer at Home Depot and Rona, I know the price of materials and how long they worked on the job, he was making money and would have made more if gates were built properly the first time.I like my fence, it does look good but the reason for three stars is that I was not happy with Iain’s attitude when I pointed out the couple things I wanted him to fix. Being retired, I was able to be there all the time to see what was happening, i would not trust being away during the build due to the answer I got on the first gate frame. I don’t believe in covering up flaws. My expectation would have been for Iain to see the state of the wood prior to building the gate frame and say “ this one is no good, I’ll get another one that’s better. Quality is always better than quantity. Customer satisfaction is always a contractors first priority and taking feedback and dealing with it respectfully and professionally is of utmost importance.

I was thoroughly impressed with the experience working with Iain from OK Fence - as well as with the end product.Iain was very responsive to communications right from the request for quote to job completion. His conduct was professional and respectful as well as collaborative.Our yard provided some unique challenges to overcome, however creative solutions prevailed. Iain's value for work provided also gives him a one-up on his competition.I would not hesitate to recommend Iain and OK Fence to others in need.Thanks Iain for a job well done!
