Great fortress and awesome experience. So much history, beautiful old buildings and amazing views. If you have your Parks Canada Discovery Pass, it's free. And you have the shuttle included. I highly recommend you to buy this pass because it's really worth it. I enjoyed my time in Louisbourg. It's a little gem in Cape Breton!

An amazing spot if you're a history buff. A great full day. Lots to see and many interactive activities for the whole family.

A large fortress to explore with unique characters playing their parts. There are guided tours, canon, role demonstrations, and more. You’ll first have to navigate to the visitor centre which is surrounded by five areas of parking. Then you’ll buy a ticket and board a shuttle which will transport you to the gates of the fortress. You can use your annual parks canada membership to enter for free. There are food vendors, a gift shop, lots of buildings to explore, and characters who will tell you what happened in their life. Everything was so charming and it’s only a 30ish minute drive from Sydney. Be sure to take at least 3 hours to explore the whole ground and immerse yourself.

Go and experience what life was back in the day especially in a fort.Google maps will try to take you inside with your car - but they don't allow that.So you need to go to the visitor center and first book your tickets. They have 5 or 6 big parking areas and it's free. After getting your tickets hop on to the shuttle bus which will take you there.Buses are available every 15 minutes. You can witness the parade and canon firing and believe me when I say it's loud. The main building is now a museum where you can see how they lived - from the soldiers to the officers.Inside are soldiers too who tell you many stories and it's fascinating.Inside the fort there are roughly 15 buildings and each one has its own history. You can buy fresh bread from their owens but be warned that they get harder by the minute. You will need cash though as there is no electronic payment option.

oh wow..almost like living that year..1744 if not the damn masks...everything felt so realistic...lots of information and experiences... I really liked it and advice visiting...takes minimum 6h to fully benefit of entire experience..or longer if want to Interact with whole thing.. ( you can fire a musket and even a canon)....

Step back in time to 1747. Walk amongst the reconstructed buildings and talk to costumed interpreters going about life in the day. Plan on spending at least half a day here. Fabulous experience.

You park in one of the many parking lots and then go in and buy the admission. Adult admission is $8.00 for the off season. The Visitor Centre has a gift shop and an exhibit inside the building. The exhibit is a quick overview of the history of Fort Louisbourg. The exhibition has mini recreations of the fort, a video playing on a tv with audio, and lots of imagery. The gift shop is small. The Visitor Centre also has shuttle buses that supposedly run every 15 mins to take you to the fortress.Take the shuttle bus to the fort, else you're going to be doing a 30 min walk there.

Easy to get to (cant miss the sign due to size and nothing else being there), I recommend going to parking lot 1 due to it being infront of the visitor centre. Once you get your ticket at the front desk (right at the front, 4m from the doors) you'll have a wristband for the fortress and then go out the back (down the stairs) to the bus stop. Before going out there is bathrooms so good to make sure you empty the tank before heading out to the fortress (there's bathrooms at the fortress, but still good to check).Bus doesn't take too long to go back and forth (around every 15mins) so either waiting on the benches or on the bus is good. The last bus leaving the fortress is at 5pm so going before then is the best due to not wanting to be on the last bus (aka crowded). The staff explain everything and help show you what's what on the visitors map that they then give to you so you will not get confused on things, and just very friendly people.

The entrance to the historical complex is large and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. We easily found the shuttle stop. Also, I liked the movie about the fortress.

An absolutely awesome experience and bought recommended! You'll need at least half a day, but I recommend a full day. The staff in costume and playing their roles were wonderful!
