Seung-ri Academy

My two sons (currently aged 13 and 11) have been students at Seung-Ri Black Belt Academy for several years. This has been an important part of their development, and we are very proud to have a Second Degree Black Belt (13 years old) in our family! I have also taken up taekwondo, and have slowly risen to Purple Belt. Long way to go, but its worth the journey. I have nothing but praise for the way Mr Davidson Senior and Mr Davidson Junior operate both locations, as well as the ongoing contribution by the other instructors including Mr Raphael, Mr Skaar and Ms Coombs. I have no hesitation in recommending Seung-Ri to any local families in White Rock and South Surrey

This is the best school out there. We happily make a 45-60 min drive 2 times a week just to attend class. All the extra work that each teacher puts in really raises the bar for commitment and dedication to their work and to the students. Both schools make an added effort to organize extra activitys such as paintball , laser tag , camping , community fundraising ect. The atmosphere is competitive but it is a competitive family! The teachers really show the students that through hard work and dedication you can achieve more. My personal favorites that my son has learned over the course of a year and a bit is respect for your self and others. Self confidence and leadership. I Would not think twice about leaving for another school. Highly recommended this school.

We have been enrolled with Seung-ri Academy for several years now. The experience there has been transformative for both my son and daughter. Fast forward a couple of years and they have both gained so much in terms of confidence, technical skills, respect and understanding the importance of perseverance. All the instructors are fabulous! Mr Ben Raphael has a special knack for making the classes fun and engaging with the students. Master Lorne Davidson has gained a special place in my heart, he has been relentless in his desire to help build up my children and has gone way above and beyond! It is evident that he cares deeply for each of his students. I highly recommend enrolling yours!

Our family joined Seung-ri Academy this past April after 2 colleagues of mine recommended the school. My children (ages 4 and 7) began their training first and as I observed them enjoying their classes I was compelled by the quality of the training program to join as well. I began my training in May and my husband began in June. We have been thrilled with the quality and consistency of training as well as the welcoming, community feel of the academy. (We train at the South Surrey location)Each instructor brings a unique perspective to your technique and they are capable of providing instruction tailored to each student’s learning style in order to achieve results. Mr. Raphael teaches many of the Tiny Tigers and Karate for Kids classes and I can honestly say I have yet to see another a children’s instructor or teacher in any other program that is as relatable, patient or kind! Mr. R. Davidson has a passion for precision and his dedication to creating a quality training experience shines through in every class! Mr Skaar gives a fun and fierce workout and will push you to be your best.I recommend this Taekwondo Academy to all of my friends and family. As a family, we are learning life skills at Seung-ri that are transferable to our every day lives. Respect, communication and self-esteem have been our focuses so far and I am thrilled that my children are learning more than just physical skills and getting aerobic exercise. The social and emotional learning will be equally beneficial for life-long mental health and wellness.

I have had all of my children take taekwondo training at Seung-ri. Four of them have achieved the level of black belt. The training in integrity and perseverance that they receive at the academy is equal to the physical training in self-defense. The Davidson`s should be commended for providing a wholesome and rigorous environment for families to train and achieve.

This has been by far one of the best decisions I’ve made. The Seung-ri Academy instructors are excellent. Every one of them is skilled, knowledgeable, and encouraging no matter your skill level. They work well as a team but each has a something different to offer, making them all great to learn from. I’ve noticed many positive changes in my daughter since starting and I’ve enjoyed watching her develop every week. She has more confidence and is learning that she can do things she didn't think she could before. We are both students now and going to class is the highlight of my week. The classes are fun and as an adult, it’s a satisfying challenge to learn a new physical skill. Everyone associated with the academy is great; staff, students, and parents, and I cannot recommend the experience enough.

I wanted my daughter to learn a martial art that would teach her how to embrace the confidence I already knew she had. After researching MANY academies, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Davidson (Sr).After voicing what my goals were for Shayla ( my daughter ) and the way Mr. Davidson listened to what she herself wanted to accomplish, I knew I had found the right place for her to not only train but grow as a person.She asked me if I would join with her and I did. Undoubtedly the best decision I have made.Not only have I watched her growth in so many ways, confidence, respect, self motivated and so much more.I (and others) have seen the impact the learning has made on me personally. Mr. Davidson and all his instructors have always been welcoming and have truly made my daughter and myself feel like we belong to something great. My son (age 6) really likes his classes. He is excited to attend every class and has fun learning. I am happy that he is learning discipline, manners, self confidence and many other things that will help him in his life. Thank you Seung-ri Academy!
