Voyageur Wilderness

I want to gush about the hospitality Michelle and Dale showed to us on our first ever expedition to Quetico. My group was comprised of two other novice paddlers and my dog, we had no idea how to plan or organize a several-day paddling trip nor much about the area itself - just that we wanted to go.Michelle and Dale are steeped in the history of the area, have a bed and breakfast located on a quaint island in the middle of Nym lake, a short paddle over to the first portage to get into Quetico. They met us at 10 pm (we had a late start leaving Minneapolis), helped us load all of our gear onto their pontoon and took us on a beautiful short ride across a glassy lake speckled with starts - it was an amazing start to the adventure.They showed us to our cabin, cooked us an amazing breakfast the following day, have great shower facilities and looking out across Nym lake that first morning was breathtaking. I loved how animal-friendly they were, too.She walked us through how the trip could go, keeping in mind our novice status, gave us several options, and helped us to feel safe and prepared. We had forgotten several things (butter and dried milk) and they keep a store on hand to help out with last minute items. If you wanted to rent a canoe or any equipment, they have that too.We had a blast, really loved the route they laid out for us, and cannot wait to come back next year. I would recommend this to experienced and new paddlers alike, and I left Canada feeling so welcomed and better prepared for next year!

Dale and Michelle operate on a tiny slice of heaven drifting in Nirvana.We arrived at night to a stunning view of every star. Stepping out of my cabin in the morning was a complete shock of beauty.Michelle and Dale have everything that you need. From gear and camp food down to an extreme interest in you having a fun and safe trip in the park.Michelle planned our whole trip for us with a detailed maps on where to paddle, camp, and site see.And Dale cooked us a delicious breakfast before our voyage and sent us off with a cheery grin and wave.The crew double checked our competencies with our boats, taught us knots, and gave us life saving advice before we set off.

Voyager Wilderness is everything you could want or need when heading out into Quetico but they’re so much more than that too! Fantastic people, scenery, amenities, and overall a great place to be! We’ve been visiting yearly for many many years and we will always recommend Voyager Wilderness to anyone who will listen. Definitely book your trip through them, there’s no one better! ❤️

My family and I have made 8 trips into Quetico over the past 20 years with Michelle and Dale at Voyageur Wilderness. We rent canoes, sleep in the lodge, and enjoy meals with this family. The facility is very clean, neat and the equipment is in top condition. While we will always enjoy the excellent customer service, we sincerely appreciate the conservation ethic they promote. Visiting Quetico is about wise-use and stewardship, and you will feel that concern for the environment in everything Voyageur Wilderness supports. Great family-run outfitter supporting canoe entry to the northern portion of Quetico Provincial Park. They are based on an island in Nym lake and a short paddle from their dock leads to the Batchewaung Lake entry portage. In addition to canoe/camping equipment and shuttle service, they provide lodging, showers, and meals for a reasonable fee. Polite, helpful, and easy to work with!

We stayed with Michelle and Dale for a night before our Quetico adventure, and it was great! The lodge was comfortable and absolutely spotless. We opted for dinner (plus the included breakfast) and both were absolutely delicious! They outfitted our adventure as well (canoe, paddles, PFDs, plus emergency whistle and rope), at a very reasonable price. Plus coffee and good company at the conclusion of our trip! Highly recommend for folks looking to go into Quetico with a full belly and some comfort!

Had a great and UNIQUE experience using Voyageur outfitters and getting into Quetico via Nym lake! Michelle at Voyageur was incredible to work with and she really went above and beyond to make sure our trip went smooth and helped us understand where to get all our paperwork locally before heading out.The gear they outfitted us with was in great condition and good quality. And they even discussed route options, showed us preferred portages for routes, and provided alot of great experience based pointers!Without Michelle and everyone behind the scenes our experience would not have been the same.Would highly recommend Voyageur wilderness!

My family recently returned from a 4 day canoe trip and a one night cottage stay with Voyageur Wilderness. Michelle and her team are a pleasure to work with! They provided our canoes and all the food for our adventure in Quetico, and everything was extremely well organized. Upon arriving back at the main island at the end of our canoe trip, we made the short paddle over to the cottage on a second island where we were treated to a delicious dinner that Michelle delivered by boat! We would highly recommend Voyageur Wilderness for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Quetico!

Rented a canoe from Voyageur Wilderness for a 6 night trip into the Quetico backcountry. Fantastic experience and a reasonable price for the rental. The VW folks were knowledgeable and helpful. They got us off on the right foot for our first canoe trip and Quetico was remarkable.

Voyageur wildness is located on an island on nym lake. They brought all the gear we needed to the drop off point and made sure we had everything we needed before going out.Michelle was extremely helpful helping us understand the process and everything we may need while we were out. She was knowledgeable and professional. She let us know that all the buildings where they are located are made from reclaimed wood from their island.
