Colliery Dam Park
One of the best parks in Nanaimo!A great place to walk your dog, go for a run or click some great pictures for the gram ! ( Which was what I did:p )It is dense and reminds me of a park back home with tall trees and opportunities for hiking for the tourists.The park also has benches on alot of key locations in the park where u can sit, relax, have picnics and also enjoy the scenic beauty the park has to offer.

A great forest walk, lots of trails to explore. Dog park as well, so if you like canines you will meet up with a variety. The dam and lake areas have birds and benches to sit and enjoy the water. Best of all are the educational signs telling you about the flora and fauna found around the park.

I love this place. I just moved to the area and I’ve gone here with my dogs and family almost every day. It’s a great trail through the thick forest a lovely off-leash area for the dogs to run and meet other dogs. It’s not just for walking you can also take your mountain bike (if you have one) it’s a great exercise.

Really enjoyable walk about through a great little west coast forest.. and the dams are so neat. Lots of people were swimming when we went, a nice mix of inner city kids, and older couples, plus people walking their dogs and taking them for a swim

This is probably the best dog off leash park in the island. Dogs can swim in the dam too.

I usually bring my dog with me to Colliery, I love that they have the off leash section. It's a good place to come in the summer because of all the saheded parts and the option to swim. It usually pretty busy but parking isn't too bad.

If you love dogs and nature this is the place, beautiful all year around. Plus there's a smaller lake/reservoir that dogs, people and otters(!) swim in. Fishing allowed.
