Was very dissatisfied when I went home with an apparent balayage, yet it was just a solid banana yellow dye job. The cut was fine but the dye job went horribly wrong. When I went to another salon to correct it they thought I box dyed my hair at some slumber party.. this was even on virgin hair...had the other salon fixing it for 4 hours. Turned out good the second time. Didn't really have the money to correct it at that time but swung it. But the thing that blows my mind is that he was graded with a 60 percent and I was simply asked for it I liked it. After no intervention or guidance from the instructor throughout the majority of the appointment I still do not really understand how that stylist was able to pass on that being a balayage after experiencing and paying for a 4 hour correction. I will not be back and hope you do better for people that are still willing to trust their personal care to you...

I have been to this hair college before and I've never had a problem before. Until last Thursday, making an appointment for my mother and myself. Now we went on a discount day and knew it was going to be busy. I'm only going to talk about my experience because I had the worst of the two appointments. First off, my student stylist wasn't very friendly. Only talking when she was relaying what she was doing. She didn't wash out all the dye from my hair, going back 3 separate times to wash it out. For some reason it seemed like she didn't like touching hair at all. Then when she finally got to cutting my hair, she cut it uneven resulting in it being cut shorter then the picture I provided that I wanted it to look. With it finally being over, I felt rushed out to pay even though the instructor said it looked marvelous. Then once I got home, I looked in the mirror and a rash started on my forehead where the student was rubbing something to take off the dye from skin. I don't even know what it was...The last thing I would like to mention, the pricing for the discount colour day. I understand with myself, when I went in I understood with my hair being long and needed extra dye/attention. But when I found out they charged my mother the same price as me even though she has a pixie cut. If there wasn't a discount she would have paid $80 for a short hair dye job which is ridiculous. Set a specific amount instead of advertising a great deal thinking people they were to get a 25-35 dollar dye and cut.

I went in for a back and neck massage and a haircut. My first time visiting! The massage was very nice and only about $26. The student (Ava I think?) was attentive about applying correct pressure and was really fluid in her movements. Definitely not perfect, but enjoyable and worth it for the cost. The massage in total took about 20 min.The haircut took a lot longer than expected but I'm really happy with it regardless. It was Emily's third haircut ever on a real person and she did amazing. I appreciated that she was slow and cautious instead of rushing and getting clumsy. It took 3 hours total (longest haircut I've ever had), but I wasn't in a rush to go anywhere and it was interesting to overhear the tips from her instructor and learn a bit about what went into my haircut. That said, I have short hair and she had a steep learning curve to learn how to detail it, which is where most of the time went. The haircut was only $18 and she did better than some of the professional stylists I've been to.I'll visit again for sure, but I'll make sure to allocate enough time accordingly, just in case.

Sylvia did a blonde balayage on me and I was VERY impressed! She was an amazing stylist who chatted and informed me on great pointers about my hair. I would highly recommend her for any service.

I booked for a balayage. But after assessing my hair, color correction was needed. So Ada and instructor Eden + Tara came up with a plan and made necessary changes throughout to ensure my hair remains intact and in good condition. They were friendly, patience, organized, flexible and I see a lot of critical thinking throughout the entire 8 hrs process. I came with 100% trust, leaving with 1000% happiness. Thank you all 3 amazing ladies. Ada, you've graduated in my opinion haha

I had a fantastic appointment at MC College Salon. My stylist Sydney was attentive and precise. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she replicated it to the best of her ability. She asked questions about exactly what I wanted and it turned out awesome! As a student at Macewan it was super affordable and well done. I will definitely be coming back!

Very disappointed! If I could rate no stars. I would have.I left the salon crying and my scalp hurting. It was sort for days after. Never got an apology from the instructor or the stylist. I've been coming to MC College for at least 16 years. Even when they were in the old building. I understand you can't always get the same results each time. I told them what I wanted, the instructor said no we can't do that. But I had the same color treatment done before and it came out beautifully at this very salon. The instructor was so rude. The stylist proceeded with the color. Not once did the instructor check her work. I told the stylist that I wasn't happy with the result. She then proceeded to comb my hair. Roughly pulling it as she was combing. I felt like I was being abused. The instructor came by and I expressed that I was not happy. She told the stylist to not bother finishing, just dry my hair and that was it. No toner was used. The attitude of the instructor was appalling. Do you not think that customer service should be taught as well as the practical requirements. It's been a few months since I was there. Thought maybe I would receive an apology. But no. Should I try again?

Oh my gosh, A five star review is not enough. I booked my appointment on a Thursday, which by the way is 50% off! The consultation was absolutely an eye opener. My hair Stylist Heather, well you might as well call her a MIRACLE worker, was absolutely phenomenal. She thoroughly went over what I had wanted, made sure I was not allergic to anything, asked questions, which no other Stylist has ever asked before. As you all know this is a teaching school, so everything was overseen by her boss /teacher Tara, which was absolutely very informative, on what the whole procedure. It was a long procedure, to have my hair colored the way I had wanted it, but In my personal experience, I'd rather have it done properly & wait a bit longer as to not damage the Integrity of my hair. After said processing of my hair was complete, now the hair cut . I have naturally curly hair, and I tell you, it's a process to keep it looking healthy and pretty. Sarah, one of the other teachers came by and made a suggestion to my stylist, so I would have volume and texture. HOLY MOLY what a difference. I'm absolutely tickled pink . Everyone that left the salon, had Enormous smiles on their faces. I totally 100% recommend this salon. All the students are very professional yet personable, whi h make the experience that more comforting. One last thing to add, don't forget to tip your Stylist , it's not required, but it's a wonderful gesture , as these ladies work extremely hard, to make you look and feel your best.

I made an appointment to get my son hair cut done. Appointment was made a week prior to the actual time. Every day I received a lot of messages and emails to confirm my appointment. Which I did during all week. Today, on February 7, I cancelled my afternoon work to take my child to the hair cut. We were already driving to the college and I received a call informing me that appointment cancelled. Less than an hour... I feel very disappointed of the administration office who do that to us. I do not have any bad comments about actual service as before always received a good service. But administration just has no respect at all.

Curly hair beware.Upon greeting my stylist I told her I had fine and curly hair. They began brushing out my hair dry without any spray-conditioner/detangler and with a fine tooth brush no less. My stylist was very gentle, however you should never try to dry brush out tangled hair. You risk ripping/splitting ends. Colour application was comfortable and so was my hair wash. After the wash however, both the student and the teacher began looking at the color application while my hair was damp, and tousled it around until all my curls were half dry and tangled. You should ALWAYS work curly hair while it's wet and apply lots of cream so your brush may comb through it smoothly. Instead I had to ask the students to use a detangler/spray conditioner because it was ripping my hair I could hear the crunchy sound. You should also blow dry curly hair with a round or flat brush to smooth the frizz. Instead she tousel dried it using her fingers. Leaving it more tangled. I asked her to trim my hair when it's dry assuming she straightened out all the frizz first. Instead she trimmed my hair after blow-dry while it was frizzy. When I asked about a heat protection spray she used a cream heat protectant. I explained that that should be applied when wet and she assured me it for dry hair too. Ever put a small amount of cream on a huge head of frizzy dry hair? It doesn't blend in nicely. I felt unprotected from the heat. The teacher then made a comment saying how damaged my hair is implying I use too much heat on my hair. While my hair was FRIZZY and textured.I wear my hair in braids daily and nightly. I was then suggested to come in for a hair mask because my hair was so dry. Your hair should never be more dry after you paid 80$ for it to be cared for at a salon. They blamed it on my previous colour job. Their school clearly doesn't educate their students on textured hair. They also did not care about the smaller details. After my trim my bangs were untouched. I asked for my bangs to also be trimmed. They said they were trimmed and thankfully another teacher came and trimmed my bangs but it was with little care. The work was rushed and yet It took 5+ hours to do a solid colour with a trim.
