Synthetic Ice Solutions

Purchased a 20x48 rink for outdoor use. After only 2 years the dovetail joints have cracked, the rink has separated and is no longer at all useful for skating. I was told by the company that I haven’t taken proper care of the rink. The truth is that this product can not be used outdoors. The jointing system is too weak to handle the temperature changes of a Canadian climate. If you plan on creating an outdoor rink, do your homework on jointing systems. DO NOT use any product that doesn’t have a fully sealed joint (research H joints).I have also now tested many other surfaces (which I should have done before I originally bought). Synthetic Ice Solutions is by far the slowest of the surfaces. Without a built in glide enhancer synthetic ice is simply not enjoyable. Your kids will prefer to use it for road hockey. Sadly, that’s all my rink is good for now. A lot of money spent for 2 years of skating on a poor quality plastic.I wish I could say that the company stood behind its claims of quality in my situation but they will not. Yes this ice is cheaper in price than most, but as usual, you get what you pay for, a subpar product.
