Bill Porteous Studio Art Classes

I first met Bill when enrolled in a summer art course at the University of Victoria. Later, I took a six week art immersion course at the Victoria College of Art with Bill and later, a week long workshop at his studio on Jutland Road in Victoria. Bill Porteous is an accomplished artist and teacher, His knowledge of art Is extensive. From realism to abstraction, Bill knows his stuff and he holds exemplary talents and skills in both areas including a very strong knowledge base of human anatomy. As a teacher, Bill is patient and kind. He exudes a warmth that is important in that it allows individual just learning a new way of drawing(or painting) to relax and enjoy the creative process. Having said that, Bill sets high standards and this is a good thing. As a student in art, you find that you have improved, albeit not without a struggle. Anything worth doing and knowing is always hard work. Thank you Bill for being there for me in my own artistic journey.
