Sake Bar Kushi
We went on a weekday after work, so it was quiet! Service was very attentive, and they even gave us 2 side dishes off the menu as gratitude. Good was pretty good, sashimi were very fresh, the skewers can be on the grill a little bit longer! Overall a very positive experience, they have a huge selection on sake and drink menu, we ordered one of their sparkling sake, very flavorful!

Visited early Saturday evening, more of a restaurant than a bar. I was seated in a booth with would be great if you want a discrete meal, as you cannot see over the high partitioning. I would have liked to sit overseeing the kitchen but that wasn't an option. The staff were friendly and efficient, yet, the waitress only spoke a little Japanese. I had a beer and the shrimp tempura. The Tempura were excellent so if they were a reflection of the other dishes the food should be excellent too, must place to try. There is a pretty good selection to try from. Prices were reasonable. It appears that their online commence site allows ordering food in advance.

Always tasty. Very fresh ingredients. They always give out free snacks/dishes.Would recommend their uni shooter. It’s interesting and tasty. They used to have much more varieties of skewers but not anymore sadly.Their sashimi is always very fresh.

This place has some of the most outrageous prices I've seen in an izakaya. One 12pc sashimi platter was as much as $35! Everything was either ridiculously expensive or slightly less ridiculously expensive.Out of everything we tried, only the okonomiyaki had any business to be so expensive. The karaage was just downright bad. It was ROCK HARD, almost like it had not been completely thawed from the freezer. The scallop skewer was offensive with how small, thinly sliced and overcooked the pieces were. They do have a very extensive list of sake (like its namesake), however. The cocktails were pretty good but not enough to forgive the extremely mediocre yet expensive food.

Definitely coming back! It was an enjoyable experience. Sapporo special, every food that we ordered was perfect. we got some on the house too which was very nice. Their online order system was very convenient. We didn’t even wait for the server. 100% recommend!

Would return, worth trying. As the name suggests, sake and Japanese spirits focused place with good execution on classic Japanese cuisine. I like the long list of Japanese spirits, hard to find in Toronto. Best Japanese in the Midtown area.Okonomiyaki: Decent, but small. Quite saucy, didn't come with enough bonito. Best thing that night, especially good in Winter.Karaage: Par, crispy, large sizes, juicy, tender. No mayo, which is a huge miss. Please give Kewpie.Kushi Roll: Par, saucy, not crazy for it.Salmon Tataki: Par, good tang, couple of slices good for 2/3people as an app.Takes AMEX$40pp inc a beer or two.Worth trying and coming for drinks with small plates.

The food is good, compliments to the chef(s), but the owners need to wake up. They have no physical menu, only QR codes, and asked us (a party of 8) to make all of our orders on one device. It took us half an hour just to get the order in for the first round of food -- it would have been longer if we didn't end up ordering randomly -- because it was too hard to coordinate between 8 people, and the online menu is hard to navigate to see all the options. At the end of the night we got the credit card terminal to pay, and it was really difficult to put the card in. My card got rejected multiple times, so my wife tried. Hers got rejected too. Luckily another friend's card went through, because we just noticed today that all our cards have massive gashes in them and the chips are damaged (see photos). We're going to the US next week and now have to get rush replacements for our cards. If you have a small group, maybe this place is ok, the food is quite good and they were practically giving beer away after 9pm (no wonder about the beer, given the above)... but for a large party like ours, it wasn't worth the hassle. Get some physical menus and make sure your equipment works.
