This Foodfare is conveniently located on the corner of Portage and Mount Royal. Parking can be a challenge but with a little patience a spot usually becomes available. The store may be small but well stocked. The meat department has it all and the butchers are helpful and knowledgeable. There is a very good selection of produce, imported goods, bread and pastries. Checkout is quick. A great resource for the area and a local food store to support!

It was an interesting experience. I understand my identification was expired, however the girl took it too seriously. Even tho I had all the right paperwork from MPI. And it was just a lighter.

Watch the dates and quality of deli meats here. They are known to have a lot of expired products on the shelves. Bought a box of frozen burger patties from here, and it turned out they were thawed out and refrozen. There is also a 12 year old child working here in violation of child labour laws.

Bought two packs of beef soup bones. Same day as buying both packs upon opening smelled rotten. And of Ammonia. They have been dunked in some ammonia solution I suppose to cover up the rotting smell. One piece had fuzzy mold colonies growing on it about 1 cm of growth away from the rotting flesh. It was absolutely revolting. This stuff is NOT FRESH DONT BE FOOLED BY THE DATE ON THE PACKAGE. It may have been PACKED that day, but how long has it been SITTING OUT before they finally decided to pack it? In all my years. Never seen moldy meat before. I got sick from the smell even my animals wouldn’t eat it. SICK.

I am from out of the city, but had a gift certificate to use and was very happy with the experience. Staff was so very helpful and polite and there is a very good selection of products. I would not hesitate to shop here again.

The quality of the meat has gone down a lot this year. They have one of the lowest meat prices in this high financial environment but not for good reasons. The meats are not fresh at all and sometimes smells rotten despite what's on the packaged on" date. Bought rib steak and it was definitely a few days old

FoodFare is great, low prices and fresh produce. In response to “poopey doopey’s” review. The lane can be accessed from two sides. It is not rocket science to throw your vehicle in reverse. Businesses need to operate, and that is where the back loading dock is located. Maybe just enter the parking lot and enter the lane from the other side next time?
