One of the worst run leagues I've ever played in. The prices are higher than most other leagues in the area. The management doesn't care about feedback from the teams or players, they let div 1 players play in lower divisions with absolutely no consequences. It's not fair to teams that are learning to play when they need to play against players way out of their skill range.I've played hockey for 15 years, some of it contact, and I've never gotten a concussion until I joined this league.

Fantastic for beginner hockey players. Good rules, good re-tiering process to find you an appropriate div. Yes, there are tiering issues where teams bring in ringers short-term in a bid to win at all costs. But the NCHL is trying to get on top of it and I think are making progress. Toughest thing is probably the late nights of winter adult hockey (most games weekdays 10:30 pm), but that goes away in the summer season (games start between 7 and 9 pm usually).

I know its tough to run a hockey team, so i can only imagine how difficult it would be to run a league. The staff are always willing to listen and assist when they can. There is no exact science to where to place teams for parity purposes, so sometimes you may need to play against teams much better then your own. However, the team at NCHL will do whatever they can to get the situation resolved. The referees are generally really good as long as you treat them with respect, and the teams that play in the league are generally always well natured.

- Expensive ice times compared to other leagues in Edmonton for the time slots you get- No floods every two periods even though you pay for a 1.5hr ice slot- League administration won't contact you about anything once your fees are paid and are hard to get information from, took asking 3 people to get our schedule sent to us- Super small divisions, so you play 3 teams all season or less- Mandatory home and away jerseys, added cost compared to other leagues which only require one- Short season compared to other leagues in Edmonton, only 14 games in the summer vs 16 or more elsewhere, and it costs more!- Would rate lower if possible, would not come back to this league ever.

Awful league in all aspects. For the same price there are multiple leagues that are run WAY MORE competently then NCHL.They book the worst ice times at the worst rinks to save a buck. Even championship series you'll end up playing at 10pm or later, and they'll still cut time off the game. This and they still charge a premium, whereas other leagues in the area guarantee flooding after the 2nd, overtime period before shootout etc.The reffing and overall management of the league is awful. Management will ignore emails and feign ignorance. Player safety non existent. The weirdest thing as mentioned in other reviews there is definitely a clique mentality in this league, where teams with friends of management get special treatment. It's really strange to run a business this way.We had 2 teams (and likely a third next season) and will NEVER be returning to NCHL. We made the decision to play elsewhere not even halfway into the season, as everyone was frustrated with the league. Every week they just solidified our decision as it got worse and worse.

-Late games: on average playing at 10:30pm. They do schedule later than that.-Consistently missing time keepers and referees.- no longer settle tie games with a shootout

Dont waste your money on this league youll never play a full game itll always be time cut and very bad refs, go join a league that actually books proper times and is commited to the players equally

Poorly managed league. Later and later games. Schedule games 2 days before Christmas. Schedules games on Thanksgiving. Little notice of scheduling changes. Player safety and suspension review is an absolute joke. Claim to send a representative to 1 game each season but has never happened. Untrained referees. Time keepers delaying games because they don't know how to use league apps.

The league mentions that they tier however there is no consistent process. Sometimes your re-tiered after 5 games Sometimes 10 or more. It's no fun losing more than 5 games and getting outscored heavily. They also count a few of the games you played in the previous division as part of the standings in the new division which is wrong. Also many teams are really good at the old sandbagger routine, knowing when to dial up or down .Lastly its a non contact hockey league that has more contact than Jr B ! perhaps its the no call hockey league. Improve the league by adjusting divisions every 5 games played and make more calls. The refs are paid to protect player safety. Make the calls
