Lakewood Hills Golf Course

It's a very simple 9 hole course, mostly par 3's.+ Cheap green fees, relaxed atmosphere, not busy, greens are ok, play and pay by trust when staff not around- poor quality tees and fairways, no sand traps

The course was a blast. its not the cleanest or best maintained but the price is indicative of that. They also have a twilight deal and let players stay late and sign in on a trust basis. you show up put money in an envelope and go to town.I highly recommend .

We've golfed at Lakewood Hills every year for the last 4 years when we visit Clear Lake. This is a course with a ton of potential, but absentee owners and very poor grounds keeping help to ensure a disappointing experience each time.We go back each year as we know when we arrive in the morning (around 9:30am, not really early for golf) , there is no one at the clubhouse and it's locked tight. So we can always just take a cart (when we can find one that works) and start golfing. Because there is no one there, we tend to golf with 8 or 9 in our party, I'm not sure we've ever seen anyone else golfing there so not concerned about slowing anyone up. It's a great place to take a bunch of beginners to learn with no pressure.When we are done in the early afternoon, an employee has generally shown up. We have paid our fees and rentals each time, but we could easily skip out. I'm not sure the employee would care. (He certainly didn't care about COVID proceedures this week, he was not wearing a mask when you are mandated to do so)The course itself is generally nicely designed with quite a few challenging water hazards. (No sand) However, the fairways and greens are not kept up. The fairways were covered in weeds and long grass. The greens are quite brown, and some even had dandelions growing out of them. Many holes and divets could been seen on the greens. It's been never very good previously, but this year was the worst. I guess it added a level of challenge?With some care and proper management, this could be a great 9 hole budget course that could find a perfect niche amongst the other 2 courses in the area.I just wished someone cared...... but I'm pretty sure the owner does not.Hopefully one day someone will buy this mess on the cheap, and turn it into the beautiful 9 hole course it could be.
