Avis Car Rental

I had a cancelled flight from Toronto to Philadelphia, Air Canada, due to “crew constraints”. The alternative flights offered were of course awful, so best option to get home was to rent a car. I think I tried every rental car agency in the airport, most did not allow one way rentals across the border. Avis did. The counter clerk was super friendly, wish I knew her name. The pickup process was minutes, less than 5, the drop off was even faster, and he was equally friendly at Philadelphia. I’d give 5 stars but it’s pricey. Total with fees came to $460 Canadian for 1 day. I understand the extra complications with a cross border drop off. But this vehicle had US tags and probably needed to be in the US. Overall, it was cheaper and faster to drive than fly, and they came through for me at the last minute with fast friendly service.

Really really disappointed with the service on 29th June 2023. We arrived at the counter after a 7.5hr flight, exhausted, to be met by a very rude woman at the desk. I paid £189 including insurance via 3rd party from Airport Rentals. Money had come out my account and they sent through booking confirmation. Woman said the 3rd party had not paid Avis so she was not releasing me the car. Was very unhelpful. I spoke to the 3rd party and when they wanted to speak to her (they said it had been paid) she walked off and they hung up. In the end I had to cancel with them (incurring a cancellation charge) and because we desperately needed a car we booked with Avis direct on the spot. The price went from £189 to £319.84. I feel completely ripped off and scammed, and with rudeness too. It was such a poor welcome to the country of Canada. We had been so looking forward to our trip but within minutes of being on Canadian soil I was on the brink of tears. Furthermore the car seat issued was for a newborn. My baby is 16 months old and couldn’t fit in it. Took us a long time to get anyone to help us to get a replacement. Really just a disappointing, upsetting and very expensive experience but it was the tone of the woman on the front desk that was most unpleasant.

If I am not mistaken Toronto Pearson Airport Avis is the only one with “Skipping Line” Service! What that means is you don’t need to go to the counter to get your assigned vehicle key and its paperwork! Instead, upon your arrival, you will receive an email from Avis with the vehicle’s license plate#, model, and parking spot, and best of it, the key is already left on the dashboard! When you get to check out gate, then just show your driver license to the staff and lastly you sign the paperwork and mark down the findings. Now you are done! Very quick! Also, the return process was very easy and fast too! Really enjoyed the excellent service! Highly recommended!

We picked up the car late at night. The following morning when looking in the trunk and dash, it was clear the car had not been cleaned between rentals. The car I picked up still had the belongings of the previous renter. Booster seat, kids toy and garbage. The car was also dirty. It was dark and the personal items were in the third row and compartments. There for we didn’t notice them until the next day. I am only leaving a negative review after not having heard back from their customer service after my complaint 7 days ago.

Were able to provide me with a one-way rental at a reasonable price when other rental agencies just spewed a bunch of nonsense to me over the phone. Their global headquarters and phone staff were very patient and got all the details down perfectly. This was a rare case when a one way rental was needed, and I received a beautiful compact car with low mileage for the long ride. Superb, will highly recommend !

Terrible .Booked car on line and then called customer service to make sure to get the right car seat for my toddler.Ended up that they gave me an infant car seat . Waited almost 2 h to get the toddler car seat . Menager went to grab it from I Don't know where. Him and another employee was helpful but the rest of them just Don't want to work .At the end when I returned my car ( that I used fir only 3 hour trip Toronto to Windsor with no stops) they told me that I had done several damages to the car .They were already there but not visible in the dark of the pick up location!I had a terrible experience!

- Pick up was super smooth at this location.- After 11pm I could conveniently return the vehicle, dropoff the key in a safe box, and leave.- When there was a misunderstanding on vehicle dropoff time, I called the Avis counter at Toronto Person Airport, and the problem was resolved within half a day without me needing to call again.

Easily the best rental experience ever!Avis preferred is an incredible option for having a car ready, waiting, fuelled, and clean at time of pick up. I get an email in advance of my arrival letting me know which car is prepared for me and where to find it. I go, inspect, get in, and drive away. I don’t even visit with anyone until I am ready and satisfied. They check to make sure I am the right driver as I exit the parking lot. This is a brilliant option for a thorough inspection opportunity. But every time I rent at this location I find amazing cars that are perfectly maintained and ready for me.Thanks Avis for an incredibly easy, highly professional, customer centric approach to renting a car!

Avis delivers quality and good service at Toronto Pearson Airport YYZ! I had a fabulous rental over four days. Loved the car play capability! The excess charges that the airport and province charge are ridiculous! But this has nothing to do with the great products at Avis

From time I went online to book car rental to the end top notch. When renting in Toronto you pretty well have to rent from car rental place at airport. Avis was very competive on price with all other companies. Signage was great after landing there you were able to find them rather easy. Was lucky no line up when we got there and process was very streamlined the agent was great to deal with. No high pressure to buy the extra insurance and was very nice to deal with. It was probably less than 8 minutes total. We picked up the vehicle about 100 yards from there the keys on the dash. Easy to get out of. The agent had told us when bringing back to look for signs for terminal 1 then car return then Avis was right there. Once we dropped off the gentleman there scanned the car walked around to check car and said we were good to go like less than 60 seconds. He gave us directions to terminal1 for flight and told us to have a good day. Total great experience from start to finish. Have travelled a bit but this was smooth and nice service for the buck
