The Cinder Track
Walked from Whiby to Robin Hoods Bay on the cinder track a couple of days ago.this is an excellent walk, though not as interesting as the coastal walk it's much easier, lots of cyclists also use the track, so watch out for them. Started the walk in whitby near the Arundel House Hotel but can join the track at various locations. Well worth doing.

We used the Cinder Track to cycle from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay. We parked up at the Endeavour car park and cycled around 3 minutes joining the track at the start just off a street called Southend Gardens in Whitby.Easy ride, slight up and downs however nothing major. Nice and smooth and smooth and beautiful scenery especially when you get closer to Robin Hood's Bay. It took us around 50 minutes to cycle on mountain bikes from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay, stopping off for photos etc. We passed around a dozen or so people with dogs but everyone was polite.Would definitely recommend this track especially if your cycling!

The Cinder Track
A long 23 miles track from Whitby to Scarborough suitable for both cyclists and hill walkers as it is mostly flat. It was previously an abandoned railway between Whitby and Scarborough so it has lots of iconic There's plenty of signposts along the route so it's very hard to get lost while you are on it.I've done this walk in one day and it was really strenuous but rewarding. Unfortunately the weather was not that good but I visited during March where the weather is more unpredictable with lots of spring rain. It's a great track to walk in summer and autumn and best recommended to walk it in two legs. There are also pubs and some accomodation along the track.

This is such a magical place. Great view of the Abbey, tidal River and Old gas works. Holiday cottage Park on one side and the railway underneath. Steam trains in the summer and what's more it is tarmaced to the end of the viaduct from Whitby town so accessible and easy walking

The Cinder Track
Very bumpy in places, but stunning scenery, a long day of cycling go prepped with plenty of water, although there are some rest stops with food and drinks available. Just dont forget some of those nice downhill spots are not so nice on the return ride!!!

The Cinder Track
Brilliant cycle path. We went from Whitby to Ravenscar and back. Parked for free on a nearby street. Excellent weather and generally good surfaces that got worse around Robin Hood’s bay but still ok.The most scenic path I have Ridden.

The Cinder Track
Fabulous walking or cycling through peaceful countryside with views of the north east coast. Running from Whitby to Scarborough, the track is a dis-used railway track that was meant to service a new tourist destination at Ravenscar, but a lack of beach scuppered the plans early in the development. The stretch from Robin Hood's Bay to Ravenscar is a little wilder and more sheltered than the section from Robin Hood's bay to Whitby. It is easy to plan circular walks taking in the cinder track and the coastal path. The track, originally built for trains has only gentle gradients, but the same cannot be said for the coastal path which has some sections with steps. At Ravenscar there is a National Trust Tea Room (no toilets) an Hotel and slightly further on is the Ravenscar Tea Rooms which don't open on Tuesdays. At Whitby there are plenty of places to get refreshments and Robin Hood's bay has a couple of pubs, a fish and chip shop, a bistro and a couple of other places to eat and drink plus public toilets. The track passes under a few road bridges and mostly passes through very peaceful countryside. There are plenty of wild flowers in the spring and bird life is good and quite mixed. It's well worth a visit to cycle or walk and the sea views are lovely pretty much any time of year, just dress for the weather.
