Dr. Herman Shen & Associates

No explain in details of the results of my general eye check up. I am over 40 years old I know my eyes are not as good as young, I was looking forward to hearing more advise or details of the current condition of my eyes, but nope, I can feel the rush by the male optometrist, he led me to a counter in the back where they sell glasses before I realized our appointment has finished. The mid- aged lady at the counter asked me if I want to buy a pair of glasses? If I need to buy omega because they do sell them lol. I feel this clinic is more of selling stuffs than helping patients with their profession. My family went there recently and exactly the same experience (with a different male optometrist). Not recommend this clinic. If you still plan to go for some reason, prepare the questions ahead of time and be proactive to ask. Anyways, there goes my $105.

Dr. Herman Shen was extremely rude even though his own associate gave me the wrong prescription. He is an extremely condescending and ill-mannered person, and it is shocking that a person like him still has a license to serve people. It absolutely enraged me when he acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and that I needed to choose whether I wanted to see or not

I wish I could give zero star for this trash.Reception is extremely rude, they are always right and customers are always wrong.Dr.Shen is impatient as well, it’s clear his prescription does not work at all!Scam, avoid this place at all cost!

I booked an appointment and described the symptoms and concerns with my left eye. So the optometrist only checked my left eye, when I asked for taking a look at my right eye just in case since I have a high prescription, I got rejected. The reason given was that I booked the appointment with only my left eye. Being charged $65 for one eye examination for about 15 mins is so ridiculous. I don’t recommend this place if you want any responsible examinations.

Was not able to help me see clearly with my ortho-k. Absolutely unreliable. He said “to see is a feeling” and the fact that I can’t see is because I’m not “feeling” it.

Friendly staff, my friend went there before, so I call them and made an appointment, very patient staff that answer my question. Very nice Dr. Lo, he was so patient as well. I would recommend my friends to go there as well.

Recently I went to another optometrist for eye exam and glasses prescription. I found the prescription has more items. Then I dig out the prescription Dr. Herman Shen gave to me in earlier years, and found that Dr. Herman Shen did not even have my Pupillary Distance (PD) on the paper!

Great optometry, wonderful and warm experience from start to finish. I really appreciated how thorough the Dr examined my eyes and how well they explained my prescription to me.

I have been an existing patient here for over 15 years. I requested for my prescription, wanting to know the curvature of my eye. The receptionist was standoffish and rude - stating that it’s against the “company policy” to share clients’ prescriptions. She then proceeded to inform me that I was required to buy a pack of contact lenses before she could print a copy of my prescription. After paying, I asked for my prescription but was denied yet again. The receptionist would still not give me my prescription stating that once my lenses arrived, I could see it on the box.After researching at home I found that in BC, optometrists are required to give copies of prescriptions free of charge. It is quite obvious that this “company policy” has been implemented so that clients can’t use their eye prescriptions to order contact lenses elsewhere. Dr. Shen and his associates do not follow provincial eyewear regulations.This negative experience has made me feel that the team here cares about monetary value more than patients’ wellbeing. I am extremely disappointed with this unprofessional practice and will not be returning.
