The Schnitzel Shack
My family came by during a road trip. Big portions of delicious food! Definitely will be our new go to pit stop from now on whenever we drive by!! It is was very clean, nice atmosphere and the service was super. In addition, when my aunt forgot her bag at the restaurant, they kept it safe until we were able to get it back. Great place to stop and grab a delicious bite! A MUST to visit!

Incredibly good food and service. I ordered the Hunter's Sandwich. For $10 I got a sandwich that was so full of fabulous pork schnitzel and toppings that I had to put it down and eat it with a knife and fork. Fellow customers were raving about the schnitzel poutine. My wife had her chicken schnitzel on a bed of fries with sauerkraut and it was awesome. A definite must-stop if you're in Port Hope. I gave 4/5 stars on atmosphere because it's outdoor dining only which may not appeal to everyone but I really liked it.

Growing up near Port Hope, I used to go to St. Anthony’s elementary and on lunch break, all the kids would walk to a little red shack down the street called Mother’s to get fries and gravy. Now that shack has turned into the awesome Schnitzel Shack and I couldn’t have been more excited re-live my youth! Pictures of the food won’t do this place justice! Just go, try it and you’ll see what the hype is about! Absolutely delicious in ever way! The schnitzel was so tender yet crispy, it was heavenly! Perfectly crisp fries! They also have some AMAZING gravy! I love a great rich beef gravy and this place has nailed it! Their prices are fantastic for how much food you get. Both my husband and myself couldn’t finish our meals because they really pack the box! They also have a really nice little dining patio to sit on surrounded by flowers. We will 100% be back to this lovely little gem!

Wow bubba, this places serves up some of the best schnitzel in southern Ontario. Strong recommendation. It’s a casual place with outdoor dining only. Good for takeout or a patio bite if the weather is nice.

Absolutely enjoyed the poutine schnitzel that I had. It was tasty without being salty. And the portion sizes are big. The meal lasted me the whole day.My mother has the hunter schnitzel but advised it tasted bad which is why I gave a 3. However would definitely recommend the place.

First time visiting and was impressed. The prices seem high but that's because the portions are LARGE. We had the dinners combos with fries and the food was great.They should consider offering a Lunch" sized meal for older people as the regular portions are so big my mom couldn't even come close to finishing her meal.Will definitely return for another visit qhen we're in the area"

What a delightful little place!We were hungry and decided to get off the highway and look for a non-chain luncheon spot. And we are so glad we did.We tried the chicken, pork, and eggplant sandwiches. All delicious and such huge portions.But what turned out to be most memorable was the hospitality. Such friendly, warm and engaging team, full of smiles. We truly felt welcomed!

This place was amazing! We had the pork and chicken sandwiches and both were delicious. The portions are huge and the even the bun used was great. There is a cute little patio.

I expected to see one huge piece of schnitzel when I opened the box..instead...I saw three huge pieces!!! The portion is super generous and definitely great tasting. Great place to stop by if you're in the area

First time going here after hearing everyone's good experiences. The food was pretty good, fries were excellent; pork schnitzel was pretty good, not grandma's schnitzel but good; fried Saurkraut could be cooked a bit longer and rinsed a bit more thoroughly before frying to lower the acidity but was still great tasting. Over all, this is a solid German schnitzel house. And am excited to try out the sandwich's on a future visit. The shack is small and isn't suited to groups waiting, they do have the buzzers so you can wait in your vehicle. If there's parking available.. It's a small lot. I recommend off peak times to visit to imitate waits and lack of parking.
