Outdoor Escape Room Where Dark Things Dwell

One of the most immersive experiences for an escape game.I won't give away too much, but the fun of being outdoors and indoors really makes it super unique. Coupled with the historical site, the game is super fun and is great for everyone!They request you buy tickets in multiples of 6 for a full team, and it's competitive if you choose to make it so.

Pioneer village is a great place to do this escape. We had a fun group.

Probably one of the worst escape room experiences I have ever done. The puzzles aren’t your typical puzzles very boring and not interesting. I felt like I was in grade school again doing a pop quiz. The actors were meh didn’t seem like the wanted to be there. Let’s just say I would not recommend and will not be going to anymore secret city escape rooms until they figure out a way to make everything more fun and immersive.

One of the best escape rooms that we’ve been to. It was so much fun and the actors were great and the story was fantastic. Would definitely recommend it to everyone I one who’s looking to do something different and fun

Loved playing Where Dark Things Dwell" in such a charming village. The atmosphere and setup was perfect! I truly appreciate all the actors and staff for their hard work and efforts so late in the night. I really enjoyed the experience although the puzzles were very challenging for my first escape game."

Secret city adventures does a very good job of using the space they're in to create highly immersive and fun experiences. Having been to one of their Casa Loma games and this one, I can't wait to go out and try the rest!

We did the haunted exploration of the halfway house. They set it up very nice, the host was very knowledgeable and we had some interesting spiritual reactions. If you enjoy being scared, then I recommend this event.

I'll be honest I've been putting off writing this review for about a month now, as I haven't desired reliving the disappointment this experience washed over me and my group. On July 9th my group of 6 including myself embarked on a highly anticipated adventure to Black Creek Pioneer Village for our yearly birthday party escape room experience. We all are big escape room connoisseurs and frequently enjoy visiting different rooms in the GTA and Halton region, but among the 20+ rooms and experiences we've gone to, this one had to be the worst. The only reason why I am giving it two stars is because my group and one actor from one of the rooms made it bearable. There are two slots for this game, a 6pm and a 9pm. I reckon as a two hour experience it can get tiring to rehearse the same lines and go over the same ground rules but the monotony and unenthusiastic approach that was given right from the beginning did not shine brightly in our group's eyes. As an escape host and seasonal scare-actress myself, I find that consistency in acting and immersion is key to making or breaking a guest's experience, and all but two actors that we were in contact with severely let us down. The entire game felt like holding kids on a tight leash and telling them what they cannot do, they hold your hand through puzzles which are pretty much only on paper and do not create an immersive environment with its large square footage area of use of the museum's grounds. The actors in our first room (the schoolhouse) belittled us and poked fun, putting our group down and distracting us from the puzzle solving, even going to the length of picking specific insults to direct to members of our group, saying things like taking a break for our chronically ill friend to take a pill wouldn't help save their souls" any faster or make comments about how our group decided to divvy up the room's tasks. By incessantly interjecting they made communicating with our team difficult due to their constant seeming need to make unkind comments towards our escape room and puzzle skills

What a fun and challenging night out. Loved every second of this game!
