TLDR – A friendly and knowledgeable group of coaches who emphasize quality over quantity and focus on foundational principles of stability and movementFor context, I was someone who was quite sedentary, having played no consistent sports nor maintained an active lifestyle until I was 22. At this point, I pretty much ran before I learned how to walk by picking up Olympic weightlifting. I had a great coach and teammates who helped me with this VERY technical sport, and competed in BCWA-sanctioned competitions and even medaled twice at BC Provincials.However, over time, my progress began to plateau, and exercises that I could execute earlier on in my training became more difficult to complete. What happened was that I had not paid enough attention to basic principles of stability, such as having sturdy feet, or movement, such as engaging my glutes. Unsurprisingly, these principles are fundamental to Olympic weightlifting (or any sport for that matter).Using the kettlebell swing as a basis of my training, the coaches at AMPfit helped build body awareness, stability in the bottom of a squat, and explosiveness in my hips. Shockingly, training with a kettlebell of 24kg (~53lbs) helped improve my squats, deadlifts, and Olympic weightlifting movements, which are much heavier than the bell! And without doing any those movements!In my view, AMPfit's training principles can be summarized in the following -1. Quality > quantity2. Consistency > intensity3. Simple not easy

This is the best place I have ever been to for strength building! Owen is such an incredible instructor. He teaches progressions in a safe way that has allowed me to achieve all my personal fitness goals. No matter where you are at in your fitness journey, he will have a path to get you where you want to be. I highly recommend taking classes from this facility or booking personal training sessions.

After going to the gym for years on and off, I realized I needed more direction to achieve my goals. I attended AMPFits Lifting Principles Class and learned the keys to proper lifting techniques, breathing, mobility and growth. The class caters to participants of all skill levels and ages. Head instructor and owner, Owen is very knowledgeable, patient, and reputable. He has taught me new techniques with kettlebell workouts. The facility is great with kettlebell weights ranging from 8kg to 48kg. There are areas to learn and improve on olympic lifting techniques which is also a specialty in AMPFit. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced athlete this is a great facility to grow and reach your goals.

I've been to AmpFit maybe a dozen times since it opened, for certifications, training, and workshops, and every time, it's a positive experience! As someone who is StrongFirst certified, I am completely on board with all of the movement aspects and principles, but more than that, Owen and all of the people he's brought there do a wonderful job of being caring and highly personable as well as competent.

Growing up as an athlete nothing has been more important to me then safety, basics, and results. AMPFit meets all my requests plus more, AMPFit is not a like the typical gyms that i've trained at before, everyone there is very welcoming, encouraging and is willing to help and give tips. Owen is a very knowledgable athlete and coach in every aspect, he'll always give his 100% attention and knowledge to every student. Owen will always push and encourage me to work out even on days where i don't feel my fullest. And what does this all mean? I'm never leaving AMPFit cause i just love the gym way too much

I began training here with what I thought was a decent understanding of kettlebells. However, Owen and Livia’s extensive expertise in kettlebells had far exceeded my expectations which made each lesson engaging and full of value. Owen has a lifetime of experience in personal fitness and martial arts, and his simple, straightforward approach to strength training has helped me to pursue my own fitness goals. I considered myself to be very intuitive in regards to strength training, but found time-and-time again that I was suffering from injury or stagnation when I would hit the gym. AMPFit | Always Making Progress
AMP Fit has been a great place for me to get into weightlifting. The amount of attention and detailed instruction for each movement is phenomenal. Owen definitely knows body mechanics and how to engage core muscles in the exercises taught. After taking the lifting principles course I am hooked and will continue to attend this gym for group training.
