If you ever have a question for them, good luck trying to call them!! If you try to call their main line, you’ll get automated prompts one right after the other and end up nowhere. And once you finally speak to an actual person, they are full of attitude like the woman I got this morning who hung up on me!! If you’re reading this, you ma’am are in the wrong profession! When I said your tone was awful, it meant that you were quick with your answers and were not helpful at all. I’ve worked many customer service jobs myself and I get it can be frustrating at times. But I have never given attitude to a customer less than 2 minutes into the call! And hanging up on a customer?? WOW. I’m not sure who spat in your coffee this morning, but I hope your day turns out for the better. I will be closing my accounts with this bank once and for all. It’s just not worth all this hassle.

2. 5 yrs ago, we had to transfer a loan onto our account from our parents line of credit. They added over $10, 000 extra to the loan, which they called insurance incase we couldn't pay it off. So we got insurance outside of the bank, cancelled the insurance, signed documents. Waited for the difference to show up in the account. It didn't. We went back, apparently we didn't sign the documents to cancel the insurance. We have went back 3 times and still no change. I still call for appointments so that we can try to cancel the insurance, 2.5 years of them charging us extra which we will not get back, nor should we even have paid! And they won't give us appointments. My parents say I should just hang out there until they change it. This is absolutely ridiculous, no bank should be robbing their clients in plain sight, but this one does.

Communication and follow through has been horrid in recent years. Waiting for a week or more for email or phone responses. We now have a horrid mortgage rate because they couldn't respond and send papers at a reasonable rate. Wanted a new mortgage and the call center said there was no lender available at any location for 2 weeks. I'm not sure what's happened in the last few years here but look elsewhere!

Aside from our mortgage broker never being able to respond in a timely manner. They say they will get back to you in 72 hours and can’t even do that There is never enough staff/tellers. Always have to wait forever or they are too busy talking to each other. What a joke

I regret ever opening an account at SBC. It's a complete waste of time. All term deposits are manually created are processed. Online system does not allow you to manage your own funds. You need to call and go through such a painful process of renewing or managing your own funds.They also force you to go in the branch every 2 years to update your IDs on file. I want to close my accounts so badly, but i'm now stuck because my money is locked in term deposits.I get it that they're still an old school and trying to keep people people employed Manitoba by implementing all of the useless processes, but it comes at price to consumers. Some of their phone contact personals are so incompetent.Stay away. Go to other credit unions like Cambrian Credit Union who is way ahead of the game.

Paid off mortgage in full 4 years ago and just recently noticed it’s still showing up on my credit report as unpaid. Stay AWAY from this bank. They do not follow the law and completely destroyed my credit that I worked hard to build.Winnipeg lagimodiere location

I was advised that I would qualify for a loan for the amount requested during an in-person meeting on Jan 18. I started the process to get a loan with SCU on Feb 24, 2022 (date I received my 2021 T4) and submitted everything requested. However, we are over two months into this process and it has been completely unprofessional and disorganized. I went weeks without hearing from anyone as the loans officer was out of the office (this part is understandable from a personal perspective but the company itself should assign replacements during extended absences. Our entire life cannot be put on hold because one employee is out of the office). I would only receive replies after multiple emails and phone calls were made by me. After two months they have now asked for additional information. I don’t believe if I supplied this information today, they would get around to approving the loan in a timely manner based on past delays.I found another lender that completed the application in just over a week (they asked for all information upfront and actually submitted to underwriting in a timely manner).SCU gets 1-star for poor communication, poor execution of a loan application, and poor management of employee schedules & workloads.

I've been a member of SCU over 15 years and it's safe to say the level of service has gone from a 5 star to a 0 star.The member contact center is a joke. It's a glorified call center that their employees direct you to when they're not available, then you have to wait 72hrs for someone else to get back to you. Their online banking system has more capabilities than this team.6 months ago, our mortgage was up for earlier renewal with a rate of 2.5% - 5 year fixed. Due to high turn over and no real initiative, it took them 5 months to lock us in at 3.35% and even that was a stretch. We still haven't signed on the dotted line...In addition, we're looking to get pre-approved for a new mortgage... also a 6 month process and we still don't have the right documentation.This bank does not work for you. They are understaffed and you'll end up paying more money because of it. If I could go back 6 months and start over with a new back, I would.
