Off course I get baked BBQ pork buns and apple turnovers whenever I am here but there are much more than that!My favorites are a deep fried prawn dumpling (looks like a big har gow) and an egg pie.The prawn dumpling is deep fried so quite greasy = very tasty. Its skin is crispy and a bit of sweet taste to it just like a sesame ball or mochi. This is very addictive so I try hard not to eat too many. The egg pie is like a big pudding pie and can be bought by a slice. One day I would like to buy a whole thing!

The New Town Bakery in Vancouver, BC, always seems to be a source of intrigue. The environment in itself was a thrill to explore. The aroma of freshly baked goods hovering in the air provided a warm welcome, instantly promising a delightful experience. However, much to my disappointment, this venture was unfortunately short-lived. The restaurant seems to be a bit dated in its payment methods. While we live in an era of digital and card payments, it came as a surprise that New Town Bakery only accepted cash or debit card transactions. Not being able to taste their offerings because of this felt like a missed opportunity, and it was a bit of a letdown on an otherwise interesting visit. In light of the circumstances, I’d rate my experience 3 out of 5 stars. New Town Bakery certainly has the potential to elevate their customer service game with more flexible payment options. This alone could be a game-changer in enhancing the customer experience, paving the way for a perfect gastronomical adventure. Here’s hoping that on my next visit, I won’t just be leaving with tantalizing aromas and the sight of their mouthwatering bakery items but also a satisfied palate. Despite the hiccup, I recommend anyone with cash or a debit card on hand to give New Town Bakery a try.

This iconic bakery has been in Chinatown forever. The bakery has tons of delicious Chinese baked and steamed buns & pastries. I always walk away with $40 worth of baked goods. However, prices have risen. The restaurant food is just as good. The bakery is in the front and restaurant at the back. Read the signs posted. Fast service. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I've gone for over 20 years and the quality stays as good as ever.

This bakery/restaurant has been in business for 43 years and it's still my mom's go to place for Siopao (steamed buns with meat inside). After we lined up to order buns to go we decided to dine in and enjoy some Halo Halo (cold dessert drink) and flat noodles with beef. Both were very tasty! Decent portion sizes and attentive waiters. It was packed full of tourists and locals. I would definitely come back again!

Food was perfect! I was pleasantly surprised that they opened so early!!! The vibe is you’re standard, outdated, dine in restaurant. Our waitress was also super friendly and attentive(considering how busy she was). They also have a section where you can order dim sum and pastries to go.

After 15 hours in a Singapore Airlines flight from Kathmandu to Singapore then to Vancouver and add to this 3 suitcases LOST / MISPLACED… the food was so so soothing & brightened our LOW MOOD ASAP. The small portion was huge & the steaming dumplings so tasty felt as if I was in Shenzhen where you get one of the best dumplings. Washroom very clean & big & service great.

Passing by this place I just knew I had to make a pit stop. I'm glad I did. This bakery was okay, the best items I purchased were the pork bun and the pork turnover. Tasted really fresh and was warm when I got it. I'm hoping to come back to try their other selections. Before you visit please make sure you have cash or Canadian (I think US is fine too) visa! If I remember correctly they did have a sign stating they do not accept credit and do not have tap to pay.

New Town Bakery has been my favorite to get yummy baked products. They sell a wide variety of bakery products, steam buns, tarts, and dumplings. The bakery is at the storefront and the dining area is at the back side with limited seats. The menu has wide choices of Chinese cuisine. We got the beef congee, Wonton noodles with asado steam bun, and Halo-Halo for dessert. The food is amazing and you will keep coming back for more. Good price for the quality. The dining staff's customer service is great but the bakery sales staffs are not good. They are too rushy for a customer to be overbilled. Lately, I bought bakery products and was billed $27.25 when it should have been $18.75 (see receipt photo). This is my 3rd time to be over billed. Piece of advice, always ask for a receipt and check before you leave the store. They accept cash or debit cards, no credit cards. No free parking, only pay parking.

Don't get much of a chance to go Chinatown these days. But boy have I been missing out.Food and atmosphere was such a throwback to my childhood I shed a tear. Definitely nostalgia was hitting strong. Food like the fried rice noodle and egg century congee was loaded with meat and veggies..Unlike many other places I've seen that charges double for less. Wok hay is also strong and flavorful. The service is straight, to the point, as you should expect at a fast paced Chinese cafe. You shouldn't be loitering around, waiting to pick and choose and finish eating and wait some more. They will not be coming around to ask you how your day is going.. as you will see it's packed and busy, there is no time for these things. Enjoy it.Pricing is very good. And I am so full and satisfied after. Need to be back here again. And there's a bakery that is constantly refilling freshly baked buns and treats!
