The Doctor's Breastfeeding Clinic

I had seen Dr. Manson a few weeks ago for latching issues. And it was terrible. It took over a month to get an Appt. Then they made us wait 45 mins for my appt (and additional 30 mins after getting in the room).After she gets in the room the assigned time was 30-60 mins. However only 10 mins worth of time was given to fix an array of breastfeeding issues. Dr. Manson was in a rush and did not assess accordingly. She forced a position on me (made my wrist hurt) not listening to how I actually felt. Told me to keep trying the position and she ll see me in a few weeks.I had cancelled the reassessment over the phone for all the right reasons.The staff here is pathetically rude and appt time is a matter of formality.

Located at 60 Gillingham Drive, in the same building as Service Canada (yes, their location has changed from 10 Gillingham to 60 Gillingham), the DBFC provides wonderful service to new mothers with breastfeeding help, tongue tie concerns, adult diabetes, respiratory concerns and immunizations. The building is located in a plaza with ample parking available even with the passport office lineup currently. The reception staff is friendly and welcome you in with a smile. With 4 to 5 receptionists working at a time, you are checked in promptly and they are happy to help with any questions. Previous reviews said otherwise (thus had me hesitant to go) and I believe that was when it was at 60 Gillingham and possibly under some other management. Whatever changes they have made, they are working, thus good changes. A decent sized waiting room is located inside adjacent to the reception. Went in for a baby tongue tie, the nursing stuff and assistant doctors were friendly, easy to talk to, heard my concerns and provided helpful suggestions and solutions with personal experiences. The baby is weighed in at each visit which is helpful as well. Masks are mandatory inside DBFC. Only one parent with child is permitted. Dr. Trojan and Dr. Nab are worth mentioning for their helpful and thorough consultation and Dr. Manson with her years of experience was quick and smooth for releasing/ clipping the tongue tie. She even did a followup consult. DBFC team was overall very helpful and provided wonderful friendly service. It was a Ohip covered service and though a referral is appreciated and welcomed, you do not need it for the clinic.

Going to the breastfeeding clinic really supported my breastfeeding journey with my daughter. It was a challenging journey but having a doctor who understood all the ups and downs, the antibiotics I required and the emotional support I needed, made a huge difference. I am really grateful for Dr Manson. I appreciated how my daughter was weighed and measured every time we went and I had the chance to see both the doctor and a lactation consultant each time I was there. The clinic was careful with Covid regulations and ensured everyone was safe. I highly recommend Dr Manson!

Doctors ( Manson , Trojan) are good, well behaved and compassionate. But the assistant Nicole is rude.She didn't allow me to wait in the waiting area even though i told her that we don't have the car to wait even though there were plenty of empty seats available. Afterwards I had to stand and wait for 2 hours beyond the appointment time.They don't value your time. However when you are late for 10 mins they will tell you upfront that the doctor will see you for lesser time.Cancellation charges are also very high.These 3 stars i am giving to the doctors knowledge and experience.

The clinic is great and have been helpful to our family from a consultation point of view. unfortunately their staff on the phone are not humane. They do not understand that someone may miss the appointment (even if they have not missed any in the past) because of some emergency - but they expect you to drop everything else and call them to let them know first and then attend to your emergency. Even if you have someone in a terrible situation, they still expect you to first give them call and let them know. I guess they sometime can understand and be reasonable to people' situation which can be true.

The doctors and lactation consultants at this clinic are incredibly helpful, especially Dr. Manson. At the beginning of every appointment I’d have to remove my baby’s clothes and diaper for a weigh-in. I’d then feed him (skin to skin) so that they could observe baby’s latch. My first child had a poor latch and was not thriving. They were able to help us correct the issue to ensure that he was getting enough milk and growing strong! I had many other issues at the beginning, such as cysts on my nipple (very painful) that they identified and treated effectively. They made me feel confident and allowed me to achieve my breastfeeding goals. I am now returning with my 1 week old newborn for the same support and advice.Also, the receptionist may seem rude initially, but if you’re friendly, she is just as friendly in return (she’s actually funny!). She plays a trivial role in the clinic’s operations - what’s important is the quality and professionalism of the doctors and consultants.

The fist 2 times I went it was fine. They were on time and they did give me some tips to try out and it was helping a little. The lady at the front even helped me with my sons car seat, teaching me the right way to position the belt, as I had it wrong, which was nice of her. I'm giving them a 2 star because today I had an appointment for 1:15, and I woke up with a sore throat and not feeling so well, so I gave them a call at 830 am telling them I had to cancel. They told me I would have to pay a 75$ cancelation fee because I didn't inform them 24 hrs prior...how am I suppose to know I'm going to wake up sick? I thought that was crazy considering covid protocols. So I told them fine I would come in and if they all get sick it would be on them. They eventually said that I won't have to pay the fee... but that just left a bad taste in my mouth. It could've been handled better. So I won't be returning. Even though I still need help. Such a shame.

Dr Manson deserves 100 stars as she's truly amazing! Kind, attentive, very knowledgeable, she treated us as if we were the only patients of hers, even though she's very busy with lots of parents and babies just like us. When the doctor held my baby, she stopped crying in her hands. The tongue tie procedure went very fast. We were not rushed afterwards, so I had a chance to nurse and soothe my baby. We had a few follow-up visits to check on the tongue healing, suction, latching and to ensure we come off the breast shield. Dr. Manson really cares about mothers and their babies. Bonus: services at this clinic are covered by OHIP.

I have to complaint about this staff name Nicole in Breast feeding clinic. She is so rude and intimidating. Purposely she made me wait for atleast half hour ignoring that my child is crying a lot.Also, she threatened me by saying that she will call the security if I will not wait to book for next appointment. NICOLE attitude was unacceptable . Pls look into this matter. Because of staff like her patients don’t want to come back again.Thank you

Dr. Trojan was absolutely amazing with me and my baby. She helped us attain a good deep latch and even set me up with a LC to double check the latch. I would suggest all moms to try booking an appointment right after birth to make sure you have the confidence and reassurance to be able to continue. Zabardast!
