The Village of Tansley Woods

Overall I think Schlegel Villages are as good as you can get and do a fabulous job considering the challenges in providing this type of service. The building set up is fabulous and very charming unlike a lot of other places I've seen. They have a very long waiting list to get in and unlike other places that say they have a waiting list and then tell you you're special so they can do you a favour and get you in right away, Schlegel really does have a long waiting list. That says a lot about them right there. I've read a few complaints in the reviews sections but I've looked at many residences and found Schlegel Villages to be the best I have seen. My mother was at their Arbour Trails location in Guelph for 4 years and I highly recommend it. She loved it there. Unfortunately her dementia increased and we had to move her to memory care and Tansley was closer to us so we moved her in August 2022. They do a good job of taking care of her. It's a tough job and I think you have to be a special person to do it. Getting people to do this kind of work is tough and I find the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I'm considered by many as a bit obsessive about getting things right and did a lot of looking and research and I'm very happy to have found this place for her.

Not properly trained to handle behaviours like refusal of bathing and dont know how to handle situations where families of a resident are estranged from each other but all care about the resident. They take things too personal. I reccomend looking at places with better training for psws. Typically well trained places psws and staff wear scrubs.

It is my first experience visiting this type of place for any length of time so i am not sure how to compare but my relative liked the view from the restaurant. Good food. She is in memory care so it is a little hard to keep her occupied but they seem to have lots of activities, friendly staff, nice clean rooms. Downstairs is a nice little village setting with cafe, library, many more activities.

The facility is beautiful. The staff is outstanding. The food is wonderful. There is no better place I could imagine for my Mom. I know she's being cared for by trained and loving people.I'd like to make a reservation for myself in thirty years!!

I am looking for a retirement home for my parents. I contacted Tansley woods because I heard good reviews from my co workers. I spoke to Patricia and she was very pleasant to speak to and answered all my questions.

Very questionable dining sanitation. Please see picture.My mother has lived at Tansley for several years and really enjoys the amenities, people, staff and finds the suites very spacious. However, she consistently cites dining room sanitation as being poor quality and will often bring her own drinking glass and cutlery so she can avoid using the filthy place setting provided. I was disgusted when my mother recently shared a picture of a drinking glass Tansley provided for her dinner.My mother is able to advocate for her self and has raised concerns about sanitation at the culinary meetings Tansley hosts. However, her concern's continue to be ignored.Tansley Woods, please do better.

I am a former RPN worked for a year. Never work with this company. They treated me so unfairly and rejected several of my pay check. I reached out many people and had to beg for money that I worked for. None of the managers are helpful, just ignoring my emails all the time. Never expect to be paid for the amount of the work you did.

Looks can be deceivingour Father has been a resident for a couple of years. Common occurrences include his unit being filthy, and generally very messy despite the additional cleaning charges they levy for said service. It is also common for staff to “skip” helping him bathe despite the additional charge levied also for such.
