Ottawa International Airport

When we got to the check in there was no signs to tell us where to go and no employees to help us figure out where to go. We had to go in search of somebody on the opposite side and was finally told where to go. We had some issues with our tickets but thankfully someone came up to the employee helping us after seeing us standing there for almost an hour and they figured out what the employee couldn't in minutes. There's not many options for food or drink and everything is ridiculously priced.

2023 May 3★A relatively good size airport having 30 gates serving the region. Check in process is fairly straightforward with typical drop off baggage areas, self service check in kiosks as well as assisted staffed counters.Canadian side:it's just one long corridor between gates with about 3 Canadian unique items on display cases.Only 2 dining options (both pub style) with snacks/drink vendors in between (4 total).Other notable features:- Small kids area- Maple leaf lounge- duty free shop- bus ticket kiosk- rental cars downstairs just a walk acrossNote: Last flight out of YOW is about 8pm. If anything gets cancelled, there may not be other options till next morning.

Heading to the US on a Saturday night. I checked in from home, so I expected to head straight to security. It's not clear with Air Canada that you still need to stop in at a checkin gate. Even at YOW, signs and online check-in should tell you.Easy transit through US Customs with the new Mobil Passport Control app. If heading to the US, use the app, it's very easy.

I have flown out of this airport many times and have generally had good experiences. However, there are some quirks I don't get. For instance, as I was waiting to board a recent flight to the US, the small eatery in the waiting lounge was closed at 4 pm Sunday, even though there were a lot of passengers milling about.There was also nobody at the currency exchange booth. I would understand if it was late at night, but 4 pm? Not exactly what you would expect from the airport of the capital of a G7 country.

Despite being the national capital, this airport is relatively small, not alot of traffic by planes or users. Installations are clean and bright and over all a good experience. Highly recommend that you buy your food and snacks before boarding since airlines are now nickel and dime in passengers' experience to save money.

A very clean airport. Quiet as well. When going through security, there aren't many people in the queues. Despite that, there is a backlog as seemingly everything going through the x-ray machines is being double checked. This double check causes a 5 minute delay, maybe? Not too bad. However compared to Toronto, this is very slow. The security staff is very friendly while you go through, though. Overall, a good airport.

It’s a little small for an international airport but it’s ok. I love that it has smaller lines. Not a lot of shopping or food options though so tame your expectations and be satisfied with the Tim Hortons.
