Chowkeni Restaurant
the food was very disappointing, the noodles were bland and there's way too much garlic, the steak was so tough I couldn't chew it and it was difficult to cut (I ordered a medium rare but it felt like i was cutting a brick) the spring rolls and dumplings tasted store bought. (like the frozen kind you can get at groceries) for a filipino restaurant I've had way better and I was highly disappointed in the taste, the presentation was ok. the service was great, we had a really nice server it was just too bad I couldn't really enjoy the whole experience when the food was a disappointment. the fettuccine alfredo with Cajun chicken was ok, not enough cajun in my opinion but overall it was way better than the sirloin steak platter i ordered. the cocktails we ordered wasn't very balanced (not a very good alcohol ratio way too bitter) and they messed up on the drink i ordered. went home hungry :(

My first time here.I had the chicken adobo.5 chicken pieces marinated in a sauce on a bed of rice garnished with thinly sliced green onions. The music was a bit too loud. The staff in the back need to hear it also I'm guessing.Food was hot not spicy hot.I think I will return in the future

Tried this restaurant that had Google reviews dubbing it the “Best Filipino Restaurant in Edmonton”. Place is ChowKeni and it is located in the West End. It’s located beside a motel and pub where truckers would do a pit stop. The restaurant itself was cute and the staff were extremely nice. It was more of a mix between Western and Filipino food as you had to look for the Filipino dishes. I love sisig! In its home province of Pampanga in the central Philippines, sisig is a rough-hewn dish of chopped pig ears and jowls, first boiled, then braised and fried before ending up heaped onto iron sizzle platters. And it was delicious! It was a huge serving so brought leftovers home. I also had dessert, Halo-Halo. Halo-halo is a Filipino-style shaved ice made with sweetened beans, fruits, and jellies and topped with milk, Leche flan, purple yam jam, and ice cream. I also have a sweet tooth so I had Sago at Gulaman for my drink. Sago Gulaman is a local Filipino beverage made of tapioca pearls, water, brown sugar, gulaman, and vanillaOverall it was not a cheap meal ($51.38 with tax and 18% tip). However, I throughly enjoyed the meal and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and how amazing the athmosphere and service was!

I ordered Bangusilog and was very disappointed. The bangus size is so small, small serving of rice as well, and even the eggs are small too. They should label the menu (small serving) so people won't expect too much. Service is so bad, the food arrived 45 minutes after I ordered, and they also got the order all mixed up. This is the most disappointing part of my restaurant experience, they put an extra charge on my bill because of the performing band, considering they should have communicated this before taking our orders. It's not even a band since they just call out people whose willing to sing in front of the stage (like Karaoke). We felt like there was a little bit of a scam because of the overall restaurant experience. The atmosphere rating is 1 because the restaurant is too congested and they have filthy, dirty and disgusting washrooms.

I have searched up a couple of good places that serves classic filipino breakfast in Edmonton and decided to try Chowkeni today. If you are planning to try this place for their filipino breakfast, you must read this review! The price for their silog plates ranges from $12- $14, which I would say is decent, they also come with 2 sunny side ups that looks like quail eggs cuz they're super tiny. We ordered Bangsilog, Tapsilog, and 2 cups of coffee (refillable), extra garlic rice, and 4 pieces of longganisa. Now for the fried rice, the server will ask you if you want extra garlic fried rice on the side- I just said yes without knowing how much she would charge me for it and voila, $5 for a cup of rice! That is half the price of their silog plates already. The server had to ask her manager for the price of the 4 pieces of longganisa that we ordered on the side and she was told to charge us $7.99. Yes, $7.99 for 4 pieces of longganisa! The server is really nice and the cook seems friendly too and he is pretty good at what he does cuz our food tasted fresh and homecooked. Will I be visiting this place again? Maybe? Maybe not?

Highly recommended. We ordered party tray for our daughter’s birthday party. It’s delicious. Our visitors loved it. Beef with mushrooms is the best. We will definitely order again.

Waitress was awesome always checking in on us. Attentive to our needs based on the foods we ordered by providing us extra bowls and plates knowing we would be sharing the soups and rice dishes. The owner was also nice to chat for a bit with us. The food is traditional, authentic with some dishes having a flair for the popular Filipino-Chinese fast food in the Philippines. The extensive menu was a surprise having both western and Filipino options. Would love to go back there next time for breakfast or brunch.

From start to finish our waitress was amazing! Friendly and willing to small chat about the establishment. Attentive with making sure our coffee was always topped up .The food was surprisingly really good and you get a fair bit for what you pay for .The Alfredo sauce was thick as it should be. Lots of veggies and the chicken was juicy and flavour nicely with Cajun spices. The won tong had a strong chicken flavour for broth and sadly not a lot of vegetables but it came with a fair bit of chow main noodles. The dumplings are flavourful with tiny bit of vegetable.Chow special is a definitely for a meat lover and someone who is hungry. Pancakes are better than smitty. They are fair size as well.Bathroom are kept clean along with the dining room area
