Personally, I didn't have a good experience. I was the odd one out, had no friends to begin with, making it hard to expand into larger friend groups. I will always be known as the class clown at Westgate, because I forced a personality trait upon myself to try and make friends. I ended up making friends that always had expectations. They always wanted me to do something stupid/funny, if I didn't want to do, I'd risk them losing interest in socializing with me. My problems didn't merge well with the school, but I don't blame myself for everything. The teachers I dealt with were people I didn't want to spend the next 5 years with, and Choir class was filled with very inappropriate political remarks that went way too far at times. Lunch is short, which would be fine, if there was something to look forward to. It lacks critical extra curricular courses that are, in my opinion, seriously beneficial for school ecosystems to have. Christian Studies, is a very important subject in my opinion, however I lacked faith, and still do to this day. Due to personal struggles, I had a hard time understanding and taking part in Christian/Mennonite practices. Faith is key to success at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate, it is important to be heavily involved within Church. For people extremely committed to music, Westgate does shine the most in that specific category. While I take responsibility for some issues being my fault, I felt the school never gave me a chance to adapt. I was 12 and at the end of the day, I never felt welcomed. To this day, I've switched schools three times and I'm still severely traumatized from my experiences at not only Westgate, but also from the other schools I transferred to.I will unfortunately never find a school/community that I can call my second home...

My son had an amazing year in this school. And we continue to study there. We arrived from Ukraine in 2022, his English was not perfect, and back at home he was homeschooled. So everything was new, school setting, country, language, people. But everyone was so welcoming. My son found friends in Westgate, he developed his music skills, music was an important part for us. And he finished the year with a strong report card. I am so grateful for this school’s spirit of kindness.

Full of racist teachers. Would not recommend. Grant Park High School is a way better option. My kids have been way more happy since they left.

< A hobbit, reading beneath a tree, hears a male voice singing. He closes his book and stands, listening. Recognizing the voice, he smiles then runs to the road. He finds an old man, wearing a gray cloak and a pointy hat, driving a horse-drawn cart filled with fireworks and such >Old Man: < singing > The road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can…Hobbit: You're late!< The old man does not look at the Hobbit at first, and then turns slowly, with an emphatic expression on his face that begins to twitch >Old Man: A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.< Both he and Frodo slowly begin to grin and crack up into laughter >
