Bertin Stables
I took lessons here years ago and the experience was terrible. The horses weren't cared for in the least, the owners were rude and dishonest and the summer camp kids were expected to use a hose to bathe with. There were not any bathroom/shower facilities. But what haunted me the most was thinking about the badly treated horses. They would be fine one day then the next they would be lame because of poor treatment and get put down shortly after. I would rate this place a zero if zero was on this scale for rating

I admit the place could be a bit cleaner cuz the aisles do have poo and dirt all over and in the outhouse there are a lot of flies but holly what do you expect stalls are made of wood and nails so yes some nails might be sticking out but they have many large stalls and a few smaller ones for tack-up. And they dogs they have are all treated very well, played with by the kids and adults, the dogs are also very well behaved and sometimes come in while I am having a lesson and they sit there and watch. The horses are loved by everyone and are very well cared for! And they have a new owner so the place run a lot smoother now! The arenas are very nice and the school horses are very easy to control! I had my first time on a horse at bertin stables and the coach was very supportive and the horse I had (Crayola) was really friendly and easy to learn with they also have great camps at bertin and amazing lesson that are priced pretty good! Trust me I love animals and Bertin Stables does too! Bertin is a great place for starters and riders who are looking to leave their current barn for more of a challenge! Oh and 'A Google User' please check spelling and grammer because I couldn't read your review...thx! And please anyone who wants a fantastic time at a pretty good price visit bertin stabels!

I love this barn. They dont abuse there horses. We treat them with respect. We got rid of the horrible trainers that were horrible. We are fixing the place up. What stall did u have? U owned May, right holly hepworth? Its a great place to learn. Its trUe. Not every horse is a purebred pony and they arent all top show ponies. But the point is, they're trustworthy. I have gotten to know all our ponies both at Oec and bertin stables. They are all amazing horses that love kids. All off our dogs love people and the kids love them. Our cats are the sweetest things ever. One is a reacue that has now learned that people are kind. The trainers are super kind and supportive. I know this barn like the back of my hand. And i can honeslty tell you that Bertin is the best! The horses are safe and easy going. Most of thwm are `bomb proof' anf are so good!!!! I recommend bertin stables. It is the barn i started at and is the barn that has taken me to the a circuit horse shows. Best barn ever!!!!! From Sarah m.

Terrible terrible facility.Barns are not supposed to smell like roses or be spic n span but this place is extremely dirty. Horses are not well.kept and definitely are being over-used. This is borderline abuse. On weekends they offer a drop off" 10am to 2 but parents are not allowed to go beyond a certain point...reason being....I saw with my own eyes

Please do not go to this barn.I took private lessons here for about two years. They don't take care of their horses properly. The school horses are kept in tiny standing stalls most of the day, and then when they're eventually turned out, they all go to the same, small, muddy field, with one pile of hay in the middle of it. A lot of the horses are not at healthy weights either. They care more about money than the wellbeing of their horses; the things that are running their business. Please, think twice about going to this barn.

I signed one of my children up for a day experience at Bertin Stables, during a week camp the stable was offering, with a friend of hers, this summer 2014. Both girls are 12 years old with some experience riding but not much. I know my daughter has been on a horse about 7 times now. They are both very respectful, eager children and went into this experience looking to learn more about riding and caring for a horse. Unfortunately their experience was not positive. This day in particular was extremely hot and humid and with that I certainly recognize that the children and the horses would only be able to take so much of the heat, yet 20 minutes each on a horse after spending 6 hours at the camp was not what they expected. They didn't have much opportunity to participate either in caring for the horses it seems. In my daughter's words, there were a lot of kids and they really didn't encourage us to help and there were not many instructors for the number of kids". My daughter and her friend are quiet yet eager and ready to participate but they are not pushy kids so they probably didn't make their wishes known yet with that being said it is part of the stables job to draw the kids out and guide them in their participation. They also spent 2 1/2 hours in the shallow swimming pool. Both children are extremely good swimmers so spending all that time in a shallow pool doing nothing was not fun. Yes

Terrible! I used to take riding lessons at Bertin Stables and was there for a total of five years. My teacher was very nice but not very experienced, looking back now. I then went on to buy a horse and board it. The Bertins were very unprofessional and difficult to deal with and often resorted to swearing and shouting with no provocation. They also used to use my horse in riding lessons, without my permission and knowledge. I would often show up to ride to find my horse worn out. Finally when we said we were planning to move our horse to another barn they threatened to call the police on us if we tried to do it when they were not home. They never just conducted business without drama. It all got very ugly toward the end. I also used to work as a summer camp instructor and can't begin to describe how unorganised everything was. The kids appeared to have fun and all the horses at the barn are great teachers and offer different levels or riding. But I would not recommend this place to anyone while there are so many other barns to choose from in the GTA.

I showed up with my daughter on time for our private lesson. Our usual instructor wasn't present- so another employee that works there threw a fit when they realized they messed up and didn't have an instructor for the lesson. The employee proceeded to roll their eyes and scoff that they now had to do my daughter's lesson. She was put on her pony at 4:09, (I time the lessons because they are charged by the half hour/hour.) She was taken off the pony at 4:21, this being a 11 minute lesson. The employee expected me to pay in FULL PRICE for the 10 minute lesson which should have been 30 minutes long and was only 10 minutes. Her excuse for finishing early was she had another lesson at 4:30. I understand if you have another lesson thats fine but they can wait if your running behind or late. You can't just end someone else's lesson because you messed up your private lessons schedule due to employees being on vacation. This place is disorganized, unprofessional, and lacks in customer service. Do NOT go here if you want your kids to be left disappointed. I'm appalled with how the situation was handled and when I called back to follow up on how terrible my experience was the person I complained to was disrespectful and clearly didn't care about the complaint. To be honest I was ready to leave B.S. when I noticed over the last couple times I've been how the animals were also mistreated... The hooves have cracks, horses are being used too much to the point of falling over (witnessed a person almost falling off the horse because the horse was going down), the living conditions are poor. This place needs to be shut down. Worst experience, all in all disgusted with the people, and feel terrible for the horses that have to live in these terrible conditions, if you had a bad experience with B.S. I would share it, more people need to be aware of these problems. - L. Way.

Worst facility I have ever been to. I saw horses go all winter without free access to water, no troughs or buckets in their stalls/paddocks. No grain even after horses are worked multiple lessons a day. The stalls are bedded with wood CHIPS from a tree service (not grade A either). Staff are young and not very knowledgeable. Saw boarders get kicked out without notice. I would NEVER bring a horse to this facility. I love the coaches however I refuse to support this barn!
