Membertou Heritage Park

I did a self-guided tour for free and loved every exhibit and poster they had. tons of interesting and important information as well as beautiful displays of mi'kmaq artistry, culture, and history. the petroglyphs gift shop had so many things- earrings, blankets, hats, posters, post cards, regalia, mugs, shirts, soap, mi'kmaq language and history books, novels, umbrellas, etc. the people i talked to were lovely and i had an amazing visit. i will come back one day. call days or a week ahead of time if you want to schedule a workshop! i didn't have enough time left in town to do a beading workshop but would have loved to.

We really enjoyed this museum. The information was well presented and there were lots of cultural items including a birchbark canoe. The staff was friendly. In fact the general manager, Jeff, came out and talked with us informally. We learned a lot. He really made the information come alive. It really could not have been any better.

Membertou Heritage Park was wonderful! Staff were knowledgeable and extremely friendly. High recommend this on your visit to the region.

They have a great collection of artifacts and baskets, one basket I saw was 7ft tall. If you haven't seen this place yet I would totes deff recommend!!!!!!

An amazing day. Beautiful artifacts, warm welcomes and a gift store full of stunning crafts. A must visit for all.

My husband and I did a workshop where we heard stories and then made a dreamcatcher. It was amazing. The presenter (I think his name was Jeff) was so knowledgeable and friendly. The dreamcatcher instructor, Shaya, was patient, kind and friendly. My husband, who isn't big on these type of activities, even enjoyed himself. I definitely recommend adding to your experience and doing one of the extras. Thank you so much.

Interesting place to learn about the first tribe

The Heritage Park in Membertou provides important insights into the past, present, and future. It is so important to know how colonialism affected the Mi'kmaq First Nations people. Great artifacts and a wonderful gift shop.

Visited Membertou Heritage park July 2022 and it was an amazing experience. The General Manager, Jeff, is incredibly knowledgable and welcoming. He greeted our group and shared many stories and wisdom about the local area and history of the Indigenous community around Unama'ki. Highly recommend stopping here.
