This is a must-do" stop for us every time we come to Trail. For many years we've been enjoying the food here

The Colander is a community favourite, a restaurant that has stood the test of time and serves up a limited Italian menu. My partner had the spaghetti which came with a salad and homemade Italian dressing, chicken pieces, jojo potatoes and a giant freshly made roll. If was a huge serving and enough for leftovers. I ordered the dry rub ribs with potatoes and it did not disappoint. The ribs were tender and well seasoned, though they were a little dry. My potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. Delicious! I recommend when you are in the Trail area, stop by this institution.

We booked the mirror room for a private function. Server was excellent. Staff were great at booking the room a month in advance. Food kept coming and was great, ended up having way more then needed for 18 people. Would recommend for small to medium events.

EDIT DEC 2022The washrooms have been renovated!! The accessibility is fabulous. Large easy to maneuver in stall, lots of support bars and easy to navigate stall door and non-slip floor. BRAVO COLANDER this is an incredible improvement. The food and service were great as usual. The food and service as always is fantastic. The big problem is a wheelchair accessible washroom. While technically it is, usable it is not. If you cannot transfer yourself to standing to reach the bars, you are not using this facility with out major assistance. The washroom are old so not likely a fixable issue with out some expensive/major renovating. So go before you head there.

We came with a hockey team for a dinner and were blown away at how seamless the service was. Our waitress was incredible! There was around 40 of us and no mistakes were made! The food was incredible and so much of it!! The all you can eat spaghetti and meatballs, etc... Is incredible value for money and super tasty. The meatballs are HUGE!! The food didn't seem to end AND they encourage you to take the leftovers! I can't recommend this place enough!

I hate to knock on a local favourite, but my experiences here have been ambivalent at best. It has a warehouse feel, where you are charged per meatball and the space is huge and somewhat barren. Locals praise the food here, but if I'm going to eat pasta outside of my home I need it to be fantastic and this doesn't stand out to me.However, anyone should decide for themselves and there are a lo to great stories and history to come from this place so give it a try and see if you agree.

I heard so much about this place, super stoked to try it and wow…. I couldn’t be more disappointed…. There are so many croutons on my salad (about a cup, not exaggerating), the lettuce is wilted, the dressing is gross with no flavour at all. The pasta is (at best) eatable, garlic bread was soggy as well. I won’t go there again or recommend it, sorry guys, do better :/

A trail tradition, at least it used to be….ordered spaghetti and meatballs to go for dinner for my family if 4. Even paid extra for additional meatballs. Total came to $60+. We got home and the serving size was far less than what it used to be, and wasn’t enough for our family to all enjoy. Very disappointing especially the fact that when we called, they said their portions were very big, it used to be that way, but not anymore. Will not be back.

Delicious! This is the place to eat in Trail. The dinner menu is pasta mainly, there is a chicken and rib dish as well. I had baked tortellini, husband had the colander special and my aunt had the chicken dinner. With dinner you get salad and fresh buns. We also had the spumoni ice cream.Went for lunch as well, best beef dip I've ever had! Delicious and not full of fatty bits like most places serve, the au jus seemed to be real and not from a package. Husband said the burger was great and my aunt had a wrap which was huge!Lunch menu has many options, everything was very reasonable price wise.
