A dump and a landfill are two very different things. Thankful Stratford has a landfill and not a dump! At a dump, everything is left lying on the ground in a pile, exposed, open to the elements, to pests, etc. In a landfill, the land is dug out to create a big hole (called a cell), all the garbage is put in the cell, and then covered with inert matter, which keeps down disease, pests, smells, etc. And then grass or something is planted on top...and the methane being released by all the decaying matter can be captured, too. Huge difference!

Lived here all my life but the recycling guy are lazy. Put the 3 blue boxes out and was even separated cardboard plastic bottles etc maybe it was the 2 large boxes that were broken down between the blue boxes and they left them at the curb!!!!

Very good actual dump but lacks proper hours and infrastructure. Needs to be open later into the evening to accommodate anyone with a 9-5 job. Being open on the weekend for only 4 hours is a joke.Also found staff to be rude and not interested in answering questions about which sections of the dump items belong in. Seems like they expect everyone to know where to put stuff without ever being to the dump.

Staff are always friendly and helpful. I've dropped reno debris, tree branches, electronic waste and recycling.I try to go early in the day as the line can sometimes get busy in the afternoon.I see a negative review in here complaining that they searched the website for hours to confirm no special hours on Remembrance Day and were surprised to see them closed at 3pm.Hours are very clearly marked on their website if you're willing to read 2 sentences.

We just returned from the Dump. I drove in from Toronto to help family in a pre-Winter cleanup. I checked the Municipal website before coming down to Stratford. I reviewed the site again upon arrival. It shows OPEN but when we got there at 3 pm, the site is CLOSED?! Nothing on the site saying that it's closed on Remembrance Day???? How difficult is it to keep your Internet site hours current ??? We weren't the only people who's time was wasted...2 other vehicle had to turn around in the short period that we were there.
