She worked with me to determine what I needed support with, she skillfully gave me specific music and exercises to improve my breath and vocal range, and she provided supportive and helpful feedback to facilitate my comfort with and ability to perform in public. I have been a student of Susan for over five years. Susan is an excellent teacher and mentor. I grew up with a musical background but took a pause when I went to university. After post secondary education I wanted to find a new hobby so I tried singing. I have thoroughly enjoyed my singing lessons with Susan and “finding my voice”. Susan believes everyone can sing and I am starting to believe it! Susan is also understanding of an “adult student” priorities and goals. I don’t have experience with other singing teachers but I think Susan has a unique way of teaching so that our voices are strong. Her younger students are also fantastic and I am inspired by them during our recitals! I highly recommend Susan to be your vocal coach.

Susan taught me voice all through elementary and high school and prepared me for a successful entry into university for classical vocal performance. Meeting Susan had an extremely positive impact on my life as working with her gave me great confidence as a child and into my young adult hood. Many teachers can prepare students for music exams and university entry, but Susan provided me so much more than this. She instilled a life long love of music that continues to enrich my life today. She is a one of a kind person and vocal coach who I cannot recommend enough! She is worthy of the trust of the investment, time and commitment needed when pursuing music :)

Susan Gudgeon helped me find my voice, and I will be forever grateful. After a recommendation from a friend in high school, I began singing with Susan at age fifteen. I was so nervous before my first lesson! But there was no reason to be. I knew that I loved to sing and wanted to learn more. That was enough. Susan welcomed me with open arms! I was not musically trained, and yet I felt so comfortable as Susan adapted her teachings into lessons that I understood. She helped me connect my breath with my body like I had never done before. After laying a solid vocal foundation, she began to challenge me with advanced musical theatre repertoire and Italian arias. I could feel myself gaining technique and resonance within my voice. I was also learning how to act! It made me feel so strong. Susan helped me prepare for my entry audition into Sheridan Music Theatre, where I graduated in 2016. Since then, I’ve been a professional musical theatre performer across the country. Susan’s mentorship, passion for music, and unwavering support of both myself and my craft over the last fifteen years has been nothing short of a blessing.

To put it simply - Susan is more than a vocal teacher. Yes, she is the Queen of technique and get you where you want to go with your voice, but she does this in the best way! Susan teaches you to THINK like a singer. The first time I spoke with her, she changed my relationship to singing as a beginner. She said “Everyone is a natural singer, just some of us have grown up using our voices incorrectly”Over the past 5 months, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my voice as well as my confidence. She is so encouraging and will always insist that discovering your true voice is 100% possible!I recommend Susan to anyone who has a passion for singing or is just curious to see where they can take their voice!

Susan was my vocal teacher from age 11-18. I give her a lot of credit for helping me get voice and performance ready to audition for Musical Theatre College in 2007. Additionally, it was always a joy to perform in her annual/biannual recitals throughout my teens. I had tried the Kiwanis Festival within my first year and didn't have the best experience, so I didn't return again until my last year with Susan. I liked that Susan never pressured me to return to the festival competition until I was ready, but was always very supportive.I grew a lot as a singer/performer while studying with Susan. I was able to take my vocal warm ups with me throughout College and still continue to use them to this day.She was great at challenging me with new and more difficult material, and also helped me understand the stories of the songs, not just the melodies, which helped for better performances.Though I'm not really in musicals much anymore, I'm still very much a performer. I will always love singing and learning new songs and I have Susan to thank for starting me on that path.

Susan was my singing teacher for 7 years and in those years my voice changed, was up for parts in productions and was auditioning for university. Needless to say she was the one who guided through those journeys. Her technique is so helpful that it not only helped my singing but how I talk and conduct myself everyday. Because of Susan I went to one of the top schools for Opera in the country. She did wonders to my vocal ability!
