Churn Creek Protected Area
Have camped at river's edge in Churn Creek many times in the last few years. Last trip through here (Aug 2018) we noticed new fencing and signage being put up stating future access would require Band permission. Email communication with Band Chief said future non-member (non-native) camping would continue as long as guests followed soon to be drawn up" requirements. Several subsequent emails to Band and Chief regarding said requirements all went unanswered. Through a phone call today to Band office

Was really sad to see the area directly right of the little information/picnic area has been fenced off and has a sign saying that it's reserve land and we now need permission to enter. Even worse is the amount of garbage strewn about by the people dip netting salmon in this fenced area.

Churn Creek Protected Area is an awesome place to go. It's very wild, very quiet, and you get to see landscapes and ecosystems that are unusual for Canada. From Vancouver, it takes a while to get to, but it feels like an adventure. I want to return really badly to hike for a couple of days.

Well worth the drive to get there. Be careful if its raining as many of the gullies are prone to washouts.
