Baan Thai Restaurant

I'd like to start off saying that I have no idea what authentic Thai food is supposed to taste like. This was my first time eating here, but I've eaten at other Halifax Thai places.The server was friendly, the place was fairly empty but we were there close to dinner time. The atmosphere was pretty great, wooden carvings on the walls and ceiling.The food seemed kind of bland compared to the other places I'd eaten at. The portions were okay, two dishes filled 2 people. Plus a small order of rice each. I would never complain or say that it tasted bad, but it just didn't have the heat or the deep flavour I've come to enjoy from some of the other Thai restaurants.I might go back again, if I was in the area already, but wouldn't make it a point to visit again.

Impressed that they are extra creative with their food prep. Enjoyed the Baan Thai appetizer plate. Ordered green curry with chicken that comes with spring roll and salad and sweet and sour beef that comes with spring roll and salad too. Food tastes great! Would come back for sure.

My husband and I have tried many dishes, including the buffet, all are authentic, and so fresh, not made until you order. The green curry is the best in Halifax! The ginger lunch special is so flavorful. Atmosphere is peaceful and staff so friendly. Well worth the stop.

Great dinning experience. Bright and very clean. Inviting atmosphere. Food was delish, however haven eaten in Thailand several times I think I should have asked to keep it to the original spice" level. The food was not as spicy hot as I would have liked. Overall great experience!"

Quick and tasty. Had the Pad Thai lunch special which comes with salad and spring roll. I visited at the end of a lunch time so it was quite empty and quiet which I enjoyed. Many intricate wood carvings on the walls and ceiling. Comfortable casual dining with relaxing music in the background. Friendly casual staff/owner.

Phenomenal service, food came out fast and hot and fresh - every separate seafood ingredient in my soup was cooked to perfection so it's clear they've got some professionals who know their timing in the kitchen.

The food was edible, just. The noodles, chicken and egg were all overcooked. The spring rolls were very greasy. The curries were warm but oddly watery and without any other flavour. Service was a little show considering how quiet the restaurant was on a Saturday evening. I know our options for Thai food in Nova Scotia are rather limited but I'll be heading elsewhere in the future for my cravings.

I always have a great dining experience at Baan Thai. The food comes quickly, looks and tastes great. Their details in presentation are a nice touch.The building is undergoing renos at the end of the month so this might be the last time you get to dine here, give it a chance.

Great taste, but very tiny portions. A $5 ‘large’ rice is a very tiny bowl, and a $12 curry comes in the same tiny bowl. $33 before tip to leave two people fairly hungry afterwards. Friendly service, however. We were given some extra rice after our feedback.

I enjoyed green curry yesterday. A little sweet but it is delicious as the original taste.
