I've never been to a library or had a library card before and it was surprisingly difficult to open an account. My husband called a week in advance for information and I went in today to get a library card. I was told that a hospital card wasn't an adequate proof of residence (even though it has my address on it) because I could go to the hospital and get a card printed with a fake address...who the heck would do that just to get a library card!?! Its ridiculous. I had no other proof of address except invoices from my recent amazon purchases, and they almost didn't do it. The name and address matches my hospital card and ID!Its a queit, nice place and a couple blocks away from me (not to mention right beside my place of work) but I dont understand why it is so difficult to open an account. I almost don't want to come back if it wasn't for convenience! And I understand that this is in quebec, but why does the English section have to be so small compared to the whole library? They have literally less than 30 books and they're all old, no recent novels.

Right down the road from me, it's a good place to print documents in a pinch or take out a couple books. Their book selection is not enormous, but it's alright. Document prints went up to $0.20 per page for monochrome, which is a little expensive, but again, the convenience is there.

Très bon spot pour WiFi gratuit et c'est un endroit tranquille et très relaxant propice à toutes sortes de lectures enrichissante.

Belle architecture, lumineux on ne s'ennuie pas, il y'a beaucoup de choses à faire...De très bon programmes culturels, a visiter!

I went there many times, countless indeed, especially with my 3 kids. Fortunately, the kids's area is on the second floor, so I brought them upstairs, while I do serious research for the area's history, etc., downstairs without too much noise.

Always the best library in Gatineau : the librarian went ahead and open all the unopened boxes of books to make sure my sons won't have to wait another day to read a book!
