Discovered Vbis late, a few years into my injury - really suffered alot on my own until I started to receive the specific kind of support/help I needed. Thank-you Vbis - you are an invaluable resource centre for people who have experienced brain injury. Can't recommend highly enough. Education is empowering.

I discovered the Victoria Brain Injury Society (VBIS) after my injury in 2014. VBIS is a refuge from the sometimes impatient world. Once you’ve had your induction with an assigned case manager there are numerous programs that are offered. I find that peer support is invaluable offered two or three times a week. Once a member (if you have a brain injury) you will receive a picture ID that can be used in the wider world to quickly explain your unique circumstance in hopes of garnering some understanding. To support VBIS anyone can become a member for a small donation (well I call it a donation because the annual membership fee is about the cost of a couple of lattes).

Best place in Victoria for anyone living with a brain injury and even if you know someone with a brain injury, this place is a great resource centre! The programs are great and the staff and volunteers are very friendly.

I have been most impressed with the services offered by Brooke P., who was doing her practicum until the middle of May 2018. It was the first time that I did not feel like a victim, a patient or a client - but as a person who has had several brain injuries that have gotten in the way of previous life dreams.

A great resource if you or someone you know has a brain injury, or even if you are just interested and would like information. I have a brain injury and coming here was amazing, it was one of the first times I felt like I fit in, did not feel self-consciousness and was generally understood by all. I learned a ton about myself, my injury and got a lot of help learning how to cope and manage the associated symptoms of my brain injury.
