Little Cat is a very accessible conservation area near Kingston that is open year round. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing is always nice here and they RENT equipment. This year they moved to online pre-booking of equipment and we arrived without knowing this only to find out the equipment was completely booked. Janet and Megan who work there were superstars and SAVED THE DAY for our visiting Spanish Exchange student by going beyond the call of duty and locating enough equipment from the discards to outfit us. Thank you!!

Beautiful place where you can feed the birds and enjoy a semi-paved path. The park is well set up and you can essentially go straight intot he water (but we did not haha). Removed a star as there is a fair but of poison ivy and mosquitos and ended up having an allergic episode. Otherwise it was a great experience

We visited for maple madness on march break. Very nice peaceful outing. You can walk approx 30 minutes from the outdoor centre to the sugar bush or take a tractor ride. It was muddy, so its best to wear boots. They have porta potty at the outdoor centre as well as at the sugar bush.Pancakes were delicious! Very tasty and large, each pancake was the size of the paper plate. The tractor has a bench with padded seats.

We went for maple madness, It was fun. The tractor ride to the sugar bush was the kids favourite part. Due to march break and arriving around 1pm the pancake line was an hour long unfortunately. Pancakes and syrup were delicious though! Hot chocolate wasn’t the best.Over all we had a good time!

was a very beautifull walk. The loop around the lake was awesome just a little muddy in some places. When going with dogs, make sure they had their Anti Tick stuff and take one of those tick clippers with you in case. One of my dog had at least 4 ticks and the other 2 which i was able to take off during the walk. Still need to do a thorough check and i expect more. So fo be aware of that!

We did the outside loop hike 6+ kms and had a wonderful time. The trails are well laid out and there was lots to see. Once done we enjoyed one of the last days of maple madness - so good!

Beautiful space but the execution needs major improvements. March Break Maple Madness 40th Anniversary …Not enough Staff to accommodate the allocated crowd, lineup for parking admission, lineup for tractor and lineup for Pancake was way too lengthy not to mention broken picnic tables and no warming station (fire pit). There was no maple lollipops handmade on ice, No bird feed for sale to apparently feed the chickadees in trails ….etc… I could go on but overall this sugar bush needs to be revamped it definitely needs charm.THEY SURE DIDN'T GO ALL OUT FOR THIS 40th.Anniversary.Very disappointed.

Trails were clear of any garbage or debris and very accessible. Parking is also accessible. There are some bird feeding sites that children adore, and there is also an educational nature center. This place is used for Kingstons Haunted Walks, and many facilities, organizations, and schools are able to use this conservation area for educational field trips. It is also pet friendly! However one thing I could not help but notice was the abundance of hogweed, wild parsnip, and purple loosestrife along the trails. These plants are toxic, invasive, and aggressive, and the Cataraqui Conservation Area has worked tirelessly to maintain balance of the ecosystem and now the public can also contribute to keeping balance by providing surveys to keep record of growth and expansion of these nasty plants. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience at Cataraqui Conservation. I was even lucky enough to befriend a leopard frog along the water trail. Garbage disposal is provided at entrances as well as washroom facilities.
