I booked a five day camp and kayak trip for June in Algonquin a few months back. I chose the radio-free, pet-free zone for solitude. I needn't have worried. There was no one else there. Except the hordes of blackfles and mosquitoes. Absolutely brutal. No campfires either due to the ban.I made the best of it, though and did some hiking on the gorgeous Centennial Ridges trail as well as kayaking on Pog lake.Mealtime was wicked, fighting off the bugs and to bed early to escape same and no campfire to sit around.I'll be doing it again in September. Should be much more enjoyable. I'm still glad I went. Algonquin is beautiful. You can make your experience as wild or not as you wish.

My son and I hiked the Spruce Bog trail and the logging Museum Trail. We fed the chickadees and nuthatches. Parking lots were plowed. We had a lot of fun! We will be back many times!

Hiked the highlands trail over 3 days. Lots of black flies, mosquitos and lots of muddy sections but gotta expect that going in May. Campsites were clean and lots of beautiful spots along the trail
