Avis Car Rental

A relative wanted to book us a car rental for an upcoming trip using her AirMiles. AirMiles said this is absolutely not an issue and she can just process the reservation with the name of the person who will be driving. The Guelph Avis manager/owner flat out refuses to do this, citing head office won't allow it"

I needed to rent a car for less than a day and my Uber account gave me a special promotional code to rent with Avis.When my husband and I arrived to complete the reservation, we were slightly taken aback at the $750 holding fee that was mandatory to rent a vehicle.The reservation was to be put in my name but we were hoping to use my husband’s credit card, as we were told that he would be able to drive the car despite not having to show any piece of ID.The gentleman working the front desk wasn’t knowledgeable on the policies in place but was ‘pretty sure’ it had to my card. With a hold of over $700, it was interesting to me that there was no leniency surrounding whose card was used, especially considering we share a last name.The most unfortunate part is that a competing rental company is right next door, which is exactly where we ended up taking our business. We were in and out with a car rental in less than 10 minutes for a fraction of the price necessary to rent with Avis.

Rented a car from this place and we took it back recently on July 25th 2021 sunday at 920am . I am 100 percent sure that I left my sun glasses on the above compartment. My husband saw it to and the two other passengers. There were four people who saw that the sun glasses was left on the above compartment. My husband called them today and the guy who took the call instantly said that the sun glasses was not in the above compartment without double checking the car . He instantly said that it wasn't there without making any effort to double check the car. There was no any effort of double checking the car or finding the sun glasses. I am very positive that the glasses was there because the last time I saw that glasses was at 845am on the compartment and we took back the car at 920am. How come that glasses vanished? I just don't get it. There were 4 people who witnessed that the sun glasses was last found on the above compartment around 845am and returned the car at 920am on July 25th, 2021. And my husband called Avis on July 26th and as per they guy on the phone instantly said it was not there. No effort of going back to the car and double checking it.

Easy rental experience located in downtown Guelph on Gordon St. Centre of it all.Friendly, quick and efficient.Allowed me more options than was offered online. Thank you very much.I chose the Nissan Murano. Loved it.I will rent from here again... Aeroplan miles!

WORST client service ever ! It is very rare that i complains about client services but I must share my experience with probably the worst employee a company can hire.Came on saturday the 5th of november at 2.03pm to pick my rental that i had booked starting 2pm.I see the store closed and a lazy guy walking behind literally ignoring me. I go to him saying that i was here to pick up my car and his only answer was too late

Convenience at reasonable price although I wouldn't call it the ultimate deal. Currently at 40 CAD for a standard per day. Would vote 5 stars if the rates was 25 CAD for a standard that was offered in September 2018.

Do not rent from this place unless you want to be scammed. I rented a vehicle from them in August 2016. Car was dirty, with stuff like coffee stains on the dash board. Anyway I took out a damage waiver just in case. 5 months later I am charged $300. I have no idea why I am charged $300. I wasn't given any warning such as phone call or email. Just charged $300 5 months later. Very unsound business practice. Do not use these people.

If you're looking for excellent customer service, a modest car, and value for your money, look no further... I recommend Avis car rental at 42 Gordon Street location in Guelph. They are efficient, friendly and kudos to the site manager whom I've found to be very professional in his interactions.

They do have slightly cheaper rates at times, but also get cheap service and dirty cars. We just rented for the long weekend, the car was dirty as a chicken pen, and the wheels were making a whobbling noise when driving. I called the branch to mention the issue, and I was told they did not have any other car (just 5mins ago I had to choose between 3 cars). It was a safety concern but the insist went on that nothing was wrong and if I want, I could go to another branch to swap the vehicle.More things happened...but will just advise people to stay away from this place.

NEVER RENT FROM AVIS!I usually go with Enterprise but they did not have cars available for out of town drop off from December 24-27. So I went with Avis for my first time, opting for the pre-pay method to save 30$ off my order and for a swift pick up.Well, the rental agreement never informed me that Friday December 24th (Christmas Eve) was treated as a Saturday and that Avis was closing at 2pm that day. This happened to be the time I inadvertently booked my pick up.The buses were also running on a weekend schedule so I was 5-10 minutes late. When I arrived at Avis an employee was still inside but the doors were locked. The employee just put up 2 fingers indicating they closed a few minutes ago. I pulled out the rental agreement from my phone to show the employee I had already filled out the paperwork and paid, I just needed him to give me the keys.The employee did not seem to care, or show any sympathy for a person attempting to rent a car ON CHRISTMAS EVE, and proceeded to walk out of sight into the back room.After a 15 minute phone call with customer service I was able to get my money refunded but I was left STRANDED ON CHRISTMAS EVE...just so this employee could clock out on time.No one called me at 2pm to tell me they were closing. Again, the rental agreement never warned me that I was accidentally booking for the time they were closing because this was not normal Friday hours.I cannot begin to describe the anxiety that overcame me from 2-2:30pm on Friday, December 24th, 2021. I thought I was going to miss multiple Christmas meals because an employee was too inconsiderate to open a door and hand me keys I had already checked in and pre paid for.THANKFULLY, Enterprise was still open next door and cordially assisted me in renting a vehicle so I could be at family meals for the holidays.NEVER RENT AVIS....ALWAYS GO WITH ENTERPRISE! That's the life lesson I learned from this trivial ordeal.
