Such a little gem of a place and packed with artifacts and lots of good background info on the history of the area. The gift ship is well stocked with a lot of nice quality items such as jewelery, scarves and ceramic mugs. There is also a lighthouse and a number of large pieces of old logging equipment on the grounds which are interesting to view. There is a nice green space and a few picnic tables if you want to take a break here. Additional bonus is this museum houses an Info center so you can ask the staff any questions you may have and pick up helpful brochures. Washrooms are also available here. This is a great pit stop if you want to learn about the Sooke area.

Stopped for a bathroom break and quick leg stretch on our journey. This is a great place to stop. I was quite impressed with the displays and the merchandise available. Primarily priced for tourists but laden with unique gift ideas and one of a kind items.

The Sooke museum and visitor center is a great stopover for a bathroom break and to look at the history of the region with a small area. The museum is free to enter, not busy even on a weekend afternoon, and has lots to offer for information on the historical events of Sooke. From its bear bridge, to the industrial production of wood and other items, the museum even comes with a mini art gallery run by University students on the upper floor. I loved the museum plus the gift store has lots of offers too. The employees there were also nice, and public washrooms are available. I recommend anybody who is visiting Sooke to stop by this place as a must. You won't regret it!

Nice place for family and kids, many information and old stuff in the museum. It's free, but normally cash donation by exit. Many mosquitoes out side, need OFF for whole body.

A fantastic pit stop on your way to Juan de Fuca. The staff there are super friendly and can share insights on attractions and seasonality expectation. There are also lots of resources free to take that can help you gain some knowledge about particular attraction points. The historical equipment and items were very neat, love the knowledge shared along with some story telling audio display. Please don't forget to support this location and get some post cards or merchandise!!

so many ideas for gifts for families. the history is very interesting and worth the visit on a rainy day . In the summer there is the Thursday Market from 5-8pm with food trucks and vendors as well as live music! it is really a nice ambience. !
