I liked everything about this place. Delicious tempura with noodles/rice and many side dishes. The service was fast and friendly as well.Having been to Japan, this is close to their fast-food version of tendon and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that :) would come again.

4.5 stars - This was my second time at Tendon Kohaku and this time I decided to try the sashimi tendon. While the tempura was delicious, the amount of sashimi was minimal and a bit disappointing. I’d stick to the regular bowls as there is more variety in tempura and greater value in those dishes. We also tried chicken wings which were massive and really good - definitely a must get!

The tempera is super crispy IF you ask for the sauce on the side. Otherwise it soaks into the tempura and makes it soggy. The rice in the sashimi don was too hot, it ended up cooking my “sashimi”. To note, it might have been because the place was quite busy.

I believe not even 50% of my money is allocated to the food itself.The food is not crunchy and the whatever wrapped inside is mediocre at most. The tempura is soggy which is far from really authentic tempura. I spend like US$200 in Japan for tempura meal, I’m not saying you should compare this store with that, but some essentials should give you a sense that this thing is on the right track. I don’t feel it here. My feeling it’s like this food here is equivalent to some of the food you can get for 1/2 the price here in metro Vancouver.Really the 3 starts are given for the nice staffs and pretty good environment, pretty clean, and convenient location. Can’t really complain about that, it’s about right at the price point.I’ll not come back again, I recommend to those who never ate authentic Japanese tempura, at least the material is freshly prepared.

They changed the batter. It is heavier and thicker. The ingredients are lower quality than when this establishment first opened in Vancouver. (Baby corn is canned and squid I feel like was cuddle fish as it was thicker than squid and more chewy.) the tendon sauce is also more watered down. Since Covid prices have increased by 2-3$ which is fine if the quality stayed the same. The melon milk was way to sweet… udon was good though:)

Tempura deliciousness! After seeing some photos from friends had to try this place out, it’s a lovely place with light wood design and friendly staff, our server was great in making sure our drinks were filled and empty dishes were cleared. We tried the tempura with rice and udon as basis, the udon comes with a separate pot for the broth so the tempura is still crispy. Rice is a little mushy.

Yummy food & quiet location!If you like tempura, this place is all about that. Lots of fun tempura in every bowl. It's a great meal and the sauce (both regular and spicy) are both great. The spicy one is not that spicy and has a nice sweetness to it.However, I wish the tempura was a bit crisper. The breading was kind of soft by the time the food reached us. The meal was also quite thirst inducing. The deep fried food on top of the dry bowl of rice wasn't the best of experiences. (The udon is a bit better since there's broth)Overall, would still come back to try out other dishes. This place is pretty good!

I had a great time at Kohaku Metrotown. The restaurant's atmosphere is stylish and relaxing. and their service was attentive as the ones in Japan.I really recommend to try Melon milk too.

I love tempura and was excited to try this place, especially after reading about the ingredients used and the special frying method. The space is clean and tables are nicely spaced for privacy and wait staff were friendly and efficient.I ordered the tempura with sashimi and the yuzu soda that they mix in house. The tempura was tasty but wasn't as crunchy as I expected as they drizzle the tendon sauce on the tempura before serving. It would have been better leaving the tempura plain without the sauce as there is sauce provided on the table for dipping. Another suggestion is to allow ordering tempura vegetables as side orders. I wanted to try the lotus root and mushroom but didn't want to have any of the other vegetables included in the veggie tendon so that was disappointing.The yuzu drink was delicious and very large at 700ml, and worth ordering.All in all I enjoyed trying this restaurant but not sure I would return.

So, the service was extremely good- coupled with the date like atomosphere. A good place for taking instagram photos, excellent lighting.The food however, wasn't too my taste. It might just be that I'm not a big fan of Tendons, but I thought of my order, the seafood tendon, as a solid 3/5 or 5/10. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. When I reached the end, the rice and fish tasted like nothing. No salt or pepper. Just bland and nothing.You can add tendon sauce that's located at the side of your table, but even so, the taste felt so so.I would support those who love fried things like Tendons to try it though. It's a very pretty place, filled with crispness.I did like the miso soup- and the plates/bowls were pretty.Food: 3/5Interior design: 5/5Price: $-$$Comeback rate: 20%
