Genesis Athletic Club

Used to be a great gym but now over crowded and it’s full of teenagers who doesn’t respect the space. Took multiple days to “receive” 30 days cancellation notice by email to charge additional membership fees.

I personally love this gym and have been going on and off for the better part of 15 years. I'd love to give it a 5/5 but realistically it's lacking in a few key areas.Pros:- If you are into bodybuilding/powerlifting this is by far the best gym on the north shore (if you're even comparing this place to Fit4Less like some other reviews, I can guarantee this isn't the place for you)- It has the best equipment, variety of equipment, and high numbers of duplicate equipment for when it's busy- women's only section- new lights make it a lot less of a dungeon than it was previously- the people who train here are generally friendly and there's a pretty cool sense of community that's unique to this gymCons- higher price and extra fees that are not really justified based on amenities/location/age of equipment- annual maintenance fee doesn't seem to be spent on maintenance of the equipment- incredibly busy from 4-7pm- gets pretty damn hot in the summer- classic gym" smell(s)"

I’ve been attending Genesis Athletic Club since I moved to North Van from Toronto two years ago. Additionally, I joined the Boxing Club in June of this year.Regarding the Athletic Club, it’s top notch.Great equipment, that’s been upgraded since I joined.Very friendly reception team members.And the fellow members are quite friendly and helpful.I decided to join the Boxing Club this summer to switch up my cardio routine, but also to learn a new science.Even tighter and friendlier community in the Boxing Club, and that’s driven by the Coach, Shawne.Great dude. Super helpful in getting me back in line or on track with my form.Always puts fun and joy into the workouts.Ethan helps out often, and pushes me to improve my form.I’m at Genesis five/six days per week.Overall, five stars all around.I love this place and I feel as if I’m part of their community.

I went to this gym and trained clients here for 2 years during covid. I switched from Club 16 after Covid. Their machines are 2nd to none with tons of machines including many you can’t find anywhere else. When I tried to cancel my membership they kept charging me and got angry when I called bank to take the charges off after they wouldn’t send me a stmt of what the charges were even for. Last I went the gym was packed with 14yr olds taking up half the equipment so I much prefer the rec Centers tbh. Follow @khrystelwellnesscoach for more ❤️

Best gym in North Van / West Van / downtown by far. I switched from Fitness World and its night and day. Great machines, lots of equipment, good staff, reasonable enrolment and fees. Make the switch asap.

Great gym. Boxing program is excellent for any level from amateur to pro. The coach is incredible and can cater to every skill level depending on what you want out of it

Facility is awesome and I love it.However, I had an unfortunate encounter with the owner, who displayed unprofessional and aggressive behavior towards me when he yelled at me at the front desk. It is my sincere hope that he receives the help he needs to address any issues that may be impacting his behavior. The incident occurred because his staff overlooked my parking pass sticker, which was a minor inconvenience.

This is a good gym with a variety of machines, although the equipment is pretty old. They have recently changed the lighting system. If they improve the ventilation/HVAC system, I can say the best gym in North Vancouver.

Superb gym: joined a year ago afterMoving to the North Shore; now open at 5 am weekdays, huge space with great lighting, friendly staff, clean, tons of equipment, well-organized, good ventilation - one of the best gyms in BC, I’d say!

I really like improvements they have made to the gym recently. The lighting is so much better now and its nice to be able to workout till 11pm at night. They also upgraded the bench pads. Really excited and looking forward to more equipment upgrades and replacements. Hopefully some new machines members have been requesting!
